Oct. 10 Soccer: Mercer Boys Edge Wilmington; Prep Gets Overtime Victory over Erie

MERCER, Pa. – Garrett Thumm scored a pair of goals as Mercer earned a 2-1 win over Wilmington.

Cole Cunningham an assist for Mercer, while JR Schepp had three stops in goal.

CATHEDRAL PREP 2, ERIE 1, OT

ERIE, Pa. – Dylan Danch scored the overtime winner as Cathedral Prep edged Erie, 2-1.

Noah Handzel had the other goal for the Ramblers.

            

GENERAL MCLANE 4, FORT LEBOEUF 0

EDINBORO, Pa. – Cooper Robson had a goal and two assists as General McLane blanked Fort LeBoeuf, 4-0.

Coletin Barto, Carter Sindlinger, and Gio Masone also scored for GM, which improved to 11-4 with the win.

Seth Massey and Barto also had assists, while Landon Olzewski and Riley Vogt split the shutout in net.

REDBANK VALLEY 5, ST. MARYS 1

                          

NEW BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Owen Clouse recorded a hat trick and Owen Harmon had two goals as Redbank Valley beat St. Marys, 5-1.

Ty Carrier and Caleb Root had two assists each for the Bulldogs.

ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 3, PORT ALLEGANY 0

ST. MARYS, Pa. – Timothy Brannock scored a pair of goals to help Elk County Catholic to a 3-0 win over Port Allegany.

Anthony Messineo also scored for Elk County Catholic.

Aidan Clark had four saves for Port Allegany, while Ryan Jovenitti, Sagan Beaver, and Christian Sloff combined for six stops for ECC.

SLIPPERY ROCK 5, SHARON 0

SHARON, Pa. – Nick Kingerski recorded a hat trick as Slippery Rock bested Sharon, 5-0.

Hunter Berry and Trent Davey also scored in the win. Berry also had two assists and Kingerski, Gavin Siegried and Cole Kovacik one each.

Connor Wallace and Josh Book split the goalkeeping duties for the Rockets.

                        

WARREN 3, IROQUOIS 0

WARREN, Pa. – Warren got goals from three different players on its way to a 3-0 shutout over visiting Iroquois.

Finn Ordiway put the Dragons on the board off an assist by Casey Rich. Parks Ordiway doubled Warren’s lead with a penalty kick later in the half.

Mark Lynds tacked on the final goal midway through the second half off a corner kick from Parks Ordiway.

KANE 7, NORTHERN POTTER 0

         

ULYSSES, Pa. – Jess Stear had a hat trick as Kane earned a 7-0 win over Northern Potter.

Ben Walter, Connor Asel, Tyson Boschert, and Isaak Johnson also scored for Kane.

Malachi Lewis had 18 stops for Northern Potter and Gavan Copley had 12 for Kane.

GROVE CITY 7, CONNEAUT 1

GROVE CITY, Pa. – Connor Badowski and Jimmy Irani scored two goals each as Grove City beat Conneaut, 7-1.

Landon Ferguson, Gage Probst, and Josiah Unverzagt also found the back of the net for the Eagles.

FOREST AREA 1, RIDGWAY 0

JOHNSONBURG, Pa. – Emalie Best scored 19 minutes into the first half as Forest Area earned a 1-0 win over Ridgway.

Emma McFarland had 15 saves to earn the clean sheet in net for Forest, which improved to 9-3 with the win.
