MEADVILLE, Pa. – North East’s Lydia Swan (Class 2A, -4) and Isaiah Swan (Class 2A, -3), Cathedral Prep’s Breckin Taylor (Class 3A, +3) and Meadville’s Phoebe Templin (Class 3A, 187 total) won District 10 individual golf championships on Saturday at The Country Club of Meadville.
The North East sibling swept Class 2A, with Lydia capturing her third gold medal in as many seasons. Younger sister Lydia and Villa’s Tara Thomas, also a state champion in tennis, qualified in Class 2A as well. The state golf championships are scheduled for the same day as the D-10 finals in tennis.
Templin won the 3A girls tournament after McDowell’s participants, Zoey McClain and Natalie Brosig, weren’t allowed to compete because of a COVID outbreak at the school.
Taylor edged teammate Zach Henry by two strokes to earn the 3A bid to states.
