
EDINBORO, Pa. – Blayze Myers threw for 249 yards and five touchdowns to lead McDowell to its 13th District 10 title with a 58-20 win over Erie.
The Trojans’ defense limited Erie to 177 total yards and only allowed one touchdown. The Royals scored on a pair of kickoff returns.
Myers threw two of his touchdowns in the first quarter, to Stephon Porter and James Zigler, and Dominic Berarducci’s 1-yard run helped McDowell build a 21-8 lead.
Porter’s 1-yard run in the second quarter made it 28-8 at the half.
Erie returned the opening kickoff of the second half to cut the lead to 28-14.
Drew Pliatowski recorded a safety and Porter went 12 yards for his second rushing touchdown to push the Trojan lead to 37-14.
Myers threw TD passes to Jackson Johns and Leo Whitaker in the third, and Daymar Dickerson in the fourth to ice the game.
Porter finished with 65 total yards and three total touchdowns. Berarducci had 75 yards and a score on 11 carries.
McDowell will face the District 6 champion, either State College or Altoona (championship to be played Nov. 10), on Friday, Nov. 17 at a time and location to be determined.
