SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Morning action is complete from the PIAA Class 3A Track and Field Championships at Shippensburg University, and it was a good one for Hickory’s Aniyah Anderson.

Anderson won her heat in the 100 hurdles with a time of 15.00, which was the third-fastest time overall, behind only Kayli Williams of Pennsbury (14.46) and Haley Stickle of Somerset (14.98).

Anderson will have a busy afternoon, beginning with the 100 hurdle finals. She is also scheduled to compete in the 300 hurdles and the 4×100 relay.

It was a mostly quiet morning across the rest of District 9 and District 10. General McLane’s Dylan Throop narrowly missed a medal in the 3200 with a time of 9:19.63, an improvement of his D10 record time of 9:22.59 set last week. Eighth place went to Graham Thomas of Penns Manor at 9:18.30. Gart Martin of Archbishop Wood set a PIAA record to win the event in a time of 8:54.87.

The afternoon promises to be exciting. In addition to Anderson, two triple jumpers – Bradford’s Gavin McGee and Slippery Rock’s Ethan Folmer are serious medal contenders.

Also, General McLane’s Ryan Harvey is seeded 12th in the discus.
