Meadville Grad, Newly Minted 1,000-Point Scorer Foster Earns Second Straight PSAC Weekly Honor for IUP

INDIANA, Pa. – For the second straight week, IUP junior guard and Meadville Area High School alum Armoni Foster was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West Athlete of the Week on Monday after standout performances on the court this weekend.

Foster averaged 25.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists, and shot 53.1 percent from the floor and 88.9 percent from the foul line, helping the No. 7 Crimson Hawks to a pair of wins on PSAC opening weekend.

Foster opened his weekend with a milestone, becoming the 35th player in program history to reach 1,000 career points as the Crimson Hawks defeated Kutztown 86-73 Friday night on the road. He needed just 14 points to reach the feat and his the milestone in just his 72nd career game. Foster also posted a double-double, his third of the year, finishing with 18 points and 10 rebounds, going 7-14 from the floor.

He then tied a career-high with 33 points in the Hawks’ 103-81 victory at West Chester, shooting 10-18 from the floor and 12-14 from the foul line. Foster added seven rebounds, three assists and two steals. He was unguardable in the second half, scoring 28 points in 19 minutes, going 9-13 from the field and 9-10 from the foul line.

Foster now has a triple-double and three double-doubles through seven games this year. He’s sixth in the PSAC with 19.3 points per game, 15th with 8.0 rebounds per game, and second with 6.1 assists per game. He’s among the conference’s best shooters with a 51.1 field goal percentage, is 30-39 from the foul line, and has 11 steals and five blocks.

This is Foster’s fifth career PSAC weekly honor. In addition to his two straight awards this year, he was a two-time player of the week and one-time defensive player of the week during the 2019-20 season.
