MCDOWELL 3, COCHRANTON 2
ERIE, Pa. – McDowell earned a hard-fought 3-2 (26-28, 25-21, 25-23, 24-26, 15-8) win over Cochranton in its season opener on Tuesday.
Andy Trost spearheaded the McDowell offense with 15 kills, while Daniel Easly had 14 kills, Jack Wilcox and Aidan Probst eight each and Mark Sanford seven. RJ Nagg served as the catalyst with 43 assists.
Easly had 13 digs, while Trost had nine, Mick Malina seven and Will Dean and Nagg five each, with Wilcox contributing six blocks.
CONNEAUT 3, ROCKY GROVE 1
LINESVILLE, Pa. – Rocky Grove dropped its season opener, 3-1 (27-25, 25-23, 23-25, 25-12) to Conneaut.
Leading the Orioles were Brett Stevenson (19 points, three aces, three kills), Wyatt Gregory (15 points, two aces), Alex Zinz (13 points, four kills, four blocks), Blayne Baker (13 points, two kills, 12 digs), Camron King (four kills, six blocks) and Joshua Stevenson (14 points, two aces, two blocks).
