SOFTBALL

DUBOIS CENTRAL CATHOLIC 5, JOHNSONBURG 1

DUBOIS, Pa. – A strong pitching performance from Madi Hoyt and a nice day at the plate from Mia Meholick helped DuBois Central Catholic beat visiting Johnsonburg, 5-1.

Hoy went seven innings allowing an earned run on four hits and two walks while striking out four.

   

                  

Meholick was 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and two runs scored.

Chelsea Busatto also scored twice for the Lady Cardinals going 1-for-2 with a walk.

Mackenzie Freeman was 1-for-3 with an RBI for Johnsonburg.

Julia Jones took the loss going six innings allowing five runs, three earned, on eight hits, a walk, and a hit batter while striking out seven.

JOHNSONBURG 4, DUBOIS CENTRAL CATHOLIC 3

DUBOIS, Pa. – Erik Panebianco’s two-out single scored Kaden Dennis to cap a three-run bottom of the fourth, as Johnsonburg beat DuBois Central Catholic, 4-3, at Stern Family Field in DuBois.

The Rams, acting as the home team, trailed 3-1 going to the bottom of the fourth but tied the game on an RBI fielder’s choice by Dom Allegretto and a squeeze bunt by Caden Smiley before Panebianco gave them the lead for good.

Gabe Watts got the win giving up three unearned runs on two hits and two walks while striking out seven. Jefferson Freeburg made the lead stand up and got the save going two innings walking two and striking out two.

               

Camron Marciniak was 2-for-3 to lead the Johnsonburg offense.

Damon Foster was 1-for-2 with a walk and two runs scored for DCC.

Cartar Kosko took the loss going four innings allowing four runs, all earned, on five hits and two walks. Zach Spellen pitched two scoreless innings allowing a hit.

TYRONE 7, CLEARFIELD 0

TYRONE, Pa. – Aiden Coleman threw a no-hitter with 13 strikeouts to lead Tyrone to a 7-0 win over visiting Clearfield.

Coleman needed 94 pitches, 66 for strikes, to toss his no-no coming only a walk to Karson Rumsky, the second batter of the game, from a perfect game.

Bryce Hunter led the Tyrone offense going 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored with Rodney Shultz going 1-for-3 with a double, a run scored, and an RBI.

Hunter Dixon took the loss going four innings allowing six runs, three earned, on six hits and a walk while striking out two. Morgan Billotte pitched two innings giving up an earned run on two hits while striking out two.
