DUBOIS CENTRAL CATHOLIC 6, JOHNSONBURG 0

DUBOIS, Pa. – Coming into the game with an ERA of 0.81, DuBois Central Catholic’s Carter Hickman actually lowered it coming with in an out of a complete-game shutout before running out of pitches in a 6-0 win over visiting Johnsonburg.

Hickman, who retired the first six batters he faced and eight of the first nine, finished the game going 6 ⅔ innings allowing five hits and three walks while striking out seven.

The final batter he faced was Eric Panebianco, who fought off a 3-2 pitch and dumped a bloop single into left field on Hickman’s 103rd pitch of the game.

Aiden Snowberger came in and got the final out to preserve the shutout.

Hickman, who was named the Allegheny Grille of Foxburg Player of the Game, talked about the victory.

                          

DCC scored all of its runs in the first two innings, including scoring two of its four second-inning runs as a result of a pair of two-out errors by Johnsonburg.

Snowberger, only a freshman, scored a pair of runs for the Cardinals while going 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Hickman helped his own cause going 2-for-4 with an RBI.

               

Jefferson Freeburg took the loss going 5 ⅔ innings allowing six runs, four earned, on six hits, four walks, and two hit batters while striking out six. But that didn’t tell the story of his day.

After struggling in the first two innings when he gave up all six of the runs while throwing 59 pitches, Freeburg locked it in retiring nine in a row while throwing just 42 pitches over the next 3 ⅔ innings of work before reaching his 100-pitch limit at 101.

KANE 15, BRADFORD 7

BRADFORD, Pa. – Andrew Jekielek went deep three times while going 3-for-3 with two walks, three runs scored, and six RBIs to lead visiting Kane past Bradford, 15-7, at Pitt-Bradford.

Harley Morris also homered for the Wolves while going 1-for-3 with two walks, three runs scored, and an RBI.

Also for Kane, Justin Peterson was 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI, Shane Ackley was 2-for-4 with a double, a walk, and two runs scored, Luke Ely was 2-for-5 with a run scored, and two RBIs, and Landon Darr was 1-for-4 2 with a double, a run scored, and three RBIs.

Nolan Roulo was 2-for-3 with a walk and three RBIs to pace Bradford with Elijiah Fitton going 2-for-2 with a double, two walks, and two runs scored. Cam Austin was also 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI.

Jekielek was also the winning pitcher going five innings allowing six unearned runs on seven hits and four walks. He struck out four. Justin Peterson pitched two innings giving up an earned run on two hits, three walks, and a hit batter.

Roulo took the loss going two innings allowing five earned runs on six hits and two walks. Ryan Ward started and went two innings giving up six runs, three earned, on five hits and a walk while striking out two.

DUBOIS 1, ST. MARYS 0

            

ST. MARYS, Pa. – Freshman Tyler Chamberlin needed just 74 pitches to throw an eight-hit shutout, as visiting DuBois beat St. Marys, 1-0.

Chamberlin struck out three and didn’t walk anyone.

St. Marys’s Christian Coudriet was actually better despite taking the loss. He allowed one hit and didn’t walk anyone allowing an unearned run while striking out seven in 6 ⅓ innings of work.

The game’s lone run came in the fifth when Jordan Ell reached second on an error leading off the inning, went to third on a passed ball, and scored on a ground out by Aaron Andrulonis.

A-C VALLEY/UNION 4, CRANBERRY 1

RIMERSBURG, Pa. – Bailey Crissman threw a two-hitter while not walking a batter to lead A-C Valley/Union to a 4-1 win over visiting Cranberry at Union.

Crissman gave up an unearned run on two hits and a hit batter.

Zach Cooper was 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Falcon Knights while Trey Fleming was 2-for-3 and Gary Amsler had a double with an RBI while going 1-for-3.

Ken Lavrich was 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI.

Austin Shoup took the loss going five innings allowing three earned runs on six hits and a walk while striking out five. Austin Fento pitched one inning allowing an unearned run on a hit and a walk while striking out one.

CAMERON COUNTY, GALETON SPLIT DOUBLEHEADER

EMPORIUM, Pa. – Cameron County and visiting Galeton split a doubleheader with the Red Raiders winning Game One, 10-1, before Galeton took Game Two, 3-2.

In the opener, Jesop Farabaugh threw a four-hitter allowing one earned run. He walked two, hit two, and struck out five.

Farabaugh helped his own cause going 1-for-2 with two walks, a run scored, and two RBIs, while Maddox Baughman was 1-for-2 with two walks, two runs scored, and two RBIs, and Hayden Brown was 1-for-3 with a run scored and two RBIs.

Levi Evans went 2-for-4 for Galeton.

Gavin Sykora took the loss going 5 ⅓ innings allowing seven runs, just three earned, on three hits and five walks while striking out nine.

In Game Two, a strong pitching performance from Trey Kalacinski led the Tigers to the one-run victory.

Kalacinski went seven innings of one-hit ball allowing two unearned runs. He walked two, hit a batter, and struck out 10.

Sykora had a double while going 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored. Devin Stahley was 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI.

Brown had the lone hit for Cameron County.

Treyton Tucker took the loss going 4 ⅔ innings allowing three unearned runs on three hits, a hit batter, and seven walks while striking out six.

CURWENSVILLE 5, BELLWOOD-ANTIS 4

CURWENSVILLE, Pa. – Scoring twice in the bottom of the sixth, Curwensville rallied past visiting Bellwood-Antis for a 5-4 victory.

Down 4-3 with one out in the sixth, Thad Butler’s double to left scored two runs to give the Golden Tide the lead.

Logan Kunkle, who scored one of the two runs on Butler’s double, was 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Grant Swanson also scored two runs for the Golden Tide.

Jack Luensmann paced Bellwood-Antis going 3-for-4 with an RBI while Josh Dorminy was 2-for-3 with two runs scored, and Nicholas Kost was 2-for-4 with a run scored, and Zach Pier was 2-for-4 with a double.

Tyler Lee got the win in relief of Shane Sunderlin pitching two scoreless innings allowing two hits while striking out one. Sunderlin went five innings allowing four earned runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out three.

Jack Luensmann went five innings for Bellwood-Antis and took the loss. He gave up five runs, two earned, on five hits, two walks, and two hit batters while striking out five.

PUNXSUTAWNEY 11, BROOKVILLE 1, 5 INNINGS

PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. – Isaac London and Peyton Hetrick each drove in three runs, as Punxsutawney rolled past visiting Brookville, 11-1, in five innings.

London was 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and two runs scored, while Hetrick went 1-for-3 with a run scored.

Josh Tyger was also 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI for the Chucks, and Carter Savage was 2-for-3 with a walk and two RBIs.

Jamison Rhoades was 1-for-2 with a double and a run scored for Brookville.

Tyger got the win going five innings allowing one earned run on three hits and a walk while striking out three.

Rhoades took the loss going 4 ⅓ innings allowing six runs, five earned, on six hits, five walks, and a hit batter while striking out three. Bryce Rafferty gave up five earned runs on four hits and three walks in ⅓ of an inning.

SMETHPORT 11, COUDERSPORT 0

COUDERSPORT, Pa. – Preston Alfieri went 2-for-4 with three RBIs to help visiting Smethport to an 11-0 win over Coudersport.

Brandon Higley was also 2-for-5 with a triple, a run scored, and two RBIs for the Hubbers, while Alex Ognen scored three times while going 1-for-2 with two walks and an RBI.

Noah Lent added a double and went 2-for-4 with a walk and a run scored in the win, Travis Cooney was 1-for-3 with two walks, an RBI, and two runs scored, and John Adamoski walked twice and scored twice.

Ognen got the win going 5 ⅔ innings of scoreless ball allowing three hits, three walks, and a hit batter while striking out 11. Higley pitched 1 ⅓ innings allowing two hits and a walk while striking out one.

Garrett Kellert was 2-for-4 for Coudersport.

Kellert took the loss going five innings allowing seven runs, five earned, on seven hits, five walks, and a hit batter while striking out five. LT Myers pitched 1 ⅔ innings allowing four earned runs on four hits and three walks.

MONITEAU 16, FOREST AREA 0, 3 INNINGS

BUTLER, Pa. – Dawson Wallace drove in four runs and scored three while going 3-for-3 with a triple to help Moniteau past visiting Forest Area, 16-0, in three innings at Michelle Krill Memorial Field at Historic Pullman Park in Butler.

Keagan Book added three RBIs while going 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and a walk for the Warriors, while Brock Matthews scored four times while going 1-for-3.

Also for Moniteau, Landon Kelly was 2-for-2 with a walk, an RBI, and three runs scored, Carson Ritts was 1-for-3 with a run scored, and three RBIs, Connor Ealy was 1-for-2 with a double, a walk, two runs scored, and an RBI, and Evan Shearer was 1-for-2 with a walk and two RBIs.

David Martino got the win going three innings allowing two hits and a walk while striking out four.

Troy Forkin pitched 1 ⅔ innings allowing eight runs, seven earned, on eight hits, a walk, and a hit batter while striking out three in taking the loss. Declan McLaughlin gave up seven earned runs on two hits and three walks in ⅔ of an inning of work.

OTTO-ELDRED 17, OSWAYO VALLEY 0, 6 INNINGS

SHINGLEHOUSE, Pa. – Austin Cousins and Wade Daniels each had three RBIs in Otto-Eldred’s 17-0, six-inning road win over Oswayo Valley.

Cousins was 3-for-5 with two runs scored, and Daniels was 1-for-1 with three walks and a run scored.

Andrew Schenfield (2-for-3, 1 walk) and Braden Maholic (1-for-4, 2B, 2 runs) each added a pair of RBIs for the Terrors with Landon Francis scoring three times, Max Splain going 1-for-4 with a triple, an RBI, and two runs scored, and Manning Splain walking once, scoring twice, and driving in a run.

Max Splain got the win going six innings of scoreless baseball allowing five hits, a walk, and a hit batter while striking out 10.

Ian Bilski took the loss going four innings allowing seven runs, one earned, on three hits, six walks, and two hit batters while striking out four. Brayden Wiley gave up eight earned runs on five hits, two walks, and two hit batters while striking out one of the five hitters he got out. Caiden Goode threw ⅓ of an inning allowing two earned runs on two hits, a walk, and two hit batters.
