May 18, 2022 D9 SB: Hipps Leads Clearfield Past DuBois; Clarion Gets Key Win; C-L Splits Games

CLEARFIELD 5, DUBOIS 1

HYDE, Pa. – Emma Hipps fired a two-hitter to lead Clearfield to a 5-1 win over visiting DuBois.

Hipps gave up one earned run while striking out eight.

Alaina Fedder led the Lady Bison offense going 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.

               

Olivia Bender also had a double and an RBI in the win, and Alexis Bumbarger was 1-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI.

Sarah Henninger was 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored for DuBois.

Allie Snyder took the loss going five innings allowing five runs, four earned, on five hits, three walks, and a hit batter while striking out two. Emma Delp threw a scoreless inning in relief.

CLARION 9, A-C VALLEY 5

CLARION, Pa. – Winning pitcher Payton Simko hit a home run and scored three runs to help Clarion to a key 9-5 win over visiting A-C Valley at Paul A. Weaver Park in Clarion.

                          

Simko was 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI and also went seven innings in the circle giving up five runs, three earned, on seven hits, four walks, and a hit batter while striking out 13.

Kylee Beers and Bri Forrest each added a pair of doubles for the Lady Cats with Beers going 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI and Forrest going 3-for-4 with an RBI.

Also for Clarion, Hadlee Campbell was 2-for-2 with two walks, an RBI, and two runs scored.

Mackenzie Parks went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in the third inning. She scored twice and drove in two for A-C Valley.

Also for the Lady Falcons, Lexi Bauer was 2-for-3 with a pair of triples, a run scored, and two RBIs, and Meah Ielase was 1-for-3 with a double.

               

Shania Whitmer took the loss going five innings allowing seven runs, six earned, on 11 hits, two walks, and three hit batters while striking out four. Rylan Strauser faced two batters and allowed two earned runs on two walks, and Prk went one inning scoreless striking out two.

ST. MARYS 11, CLARION-LIMESTONE 7

STRATTANVILLE, Pa. – Scoring 11 runs in its first three at-bats, visiting St. Marys beat Clarion-Limestone, 11-7.

Gianna Surra drove in three runs for the Lady Dutch going 2-for-4 with her courtesy runner, Sophia Benjamin, scoring twice.

Kara Hanslovan was also 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored, and two RBIs with Jianna Gerggoing 2-for-4 with a triple, and Kendall Young going 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI.

Kendall Dunn was 1-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI for C-L with Frances Milliron going 1-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI and Regan Husted 1-for-3 with an RBI.

Young got the win in relief of Lindsey Reiter going 5 ⅓ innings scoreless. She let up one hit and one walk while striking out 14. Reiter went 1 ⅔ innings allowing seven runs, one earned, on three hits and three walks.

Jenna Dunn took the loss going two innings allowing 10 runs, three earned, on five hits, and four walks while striking out four. Husted pitched five innings giving up one earned run on four hits while striking out two.

CLARION-LIMESTONE 8, KARNS CITY 7

            

STRATTANVILLE, Pa. – Prior to the loss to St. Marys, C-L handed Karns City its second loss in as many days after the Lady Gremlins hadn’t lost since March with an 8-7 walk-off victory.

Abby Himes scored the winning run on a fielder’s choice by Regan Husted with Himes beating the rap at the plate.

Karns City had tied the game at seven with two runs in the top of the seventh tying the game on a two-out Ashley Fox single to center after an error led to the first run.

Himes was 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored, and two RBIs, Frances Milliron went 3-for-4 with a triple and three runs scored, Alyssa Wiant was 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBIs, Regan Husted was 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI, and Jenna Dunn was 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.

Husted got the win going seven innings allowing seven runs, five earned, on 14 hits and a walk.

Rossi McMillen was 4-for-4 with a double and two runs scored for Karns City with Fox going 3-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI, and Allison Walker 2-for-4 with three RBIs.

Marra Patton also hit a home run for the Lady Gremlins while going 1-for-4 with a run scored and two RBIs.

Patton took the loss pitching four innings giving up five runs, one earned, on six his while striking out one. Walker went four innings allowing three runs, two earned, on six hits while striking out two.

KEYSTONE 15, UNION 4, 5 INNINGS

KNOX, Pa. – Natalie Bowser hit a pair of home runs while going 2-for-3 with three runs scored, and four RBIs to help Keystone to a 15-4, five-inning win over visiting and winless Union.

Leah Exley also went deep for the Lady Panthers going 2-for-3 with an RBI and three runs scored, Gabby Wolbert was 2-for-3 with a triple and two runs scored, Sydney bell scored twice, Emma Gruber went 1-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, and Karly Callander was 1-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored.

Kya Wetzel was 2-for-3 with a home run, a run scored, and four RBIs for Union.

Bowser got the win in relief of Exley giving up an unearned run on three hits while striking out five in 2 ⅔ innings. Exley went 2 ⅓ innings allowing three earned runs on two hits and two walks while striking out three.

OTTO-ELDRED 12, ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 4

ST. MARYS, Pa. – Scoring 11 of its 12 runs in its final three at-bats, visiting Otto-Eldred knocked off Elk County Catholic, 12-4.

Bri Heller had four RBIs for the Lady Terrors going 1-for-5 with two runs scored, while Jessi Hall was 3-for-3 with two doubles, two walks, an RBI, and two runs scored, and Kate Rhinehart was 3-for-5 with a double, a run scored, and three RBIs.

Also for O-E, Katie Sheeler scored four times going 1-for-4, and Kyla Andreano was 2-for-4 with two runs scored.

Lucy Klawuhn hit a home run for ECC going 2-for-4 with a run scored, and an RBI, while Syd Alexander was 3-for-4, Tessa Fledderman was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, Emily Mourer was 2-for-3 with a double, and Lydia Anderson was 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored, and an RBI.

Heller got the win going seven innings giving up four earned runs on 12 hits and a walk while striking out seven.

Mourer took the loss going seven innings allowing 12 runs, seven earned, on 14 hits, two walks, and two hit batters while striking out six.

BRADFORD 11, BROCKWAY 0, 5 INNINGS

BRADFORD, Pa. – Kalie Dixon tossed a five-inning no-hitter walking four and striking out six to pace an 11-0, five-inning win for Bradford over visiting Brockway.

Dixon helped her own cause going 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI, while Alana Benson was 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored, and an RBI. Oliva Angell was 1-for-3 with three runs scored, Mallory Craig scored twice, Carli Persichini was 1-for-3 with two runs scored, and Allysa Johnson was 1-for-3 with two RBIs.

Taylor Rhed took the loss going four innings allowing 11 runs, just one earned, on nine hits and a strikeout.

DUBOIS CENTRAL CATHOLIC 19, SMETHPORT 0

SMETHPORT, Pa. – Melia Mitskavich threw three perfect innings on just 32 pitches while striking out seven in a 19-0, three-inning win for DuBois Central Catholic at Smethport.

Mitskavich also hit a home run as did Rosie Whipple, while Emma Suplizio had a triple and Kayley Risser a double.

Mitskavich was 2-for-2 with a walk, three runs scored, and two RBIs, Whipple was 1-for-3 with a walk, two runs scored, and three RBIs, Suplizio was 2-for-3 with a run scored, and five RBIs, and Risser was 1-for-1 with a walk, two runs scored, and two RBIs.

Kali Franklin was also 3-for-4 with two runs scored and four RBIs for the Lady Cardinals with Lauren Davidson walking twice and scoring twice and Madi Hoyt going 1-for-1 with a walk and two runs scored.

BALD EAGLE AREA 11, PUNXSUTAWNEY 1, 6 INNINGS

WINGATE, Pa. – Katelyn Smitchko homered and doubled to lead Bald Eagle Area to an 11-1, six-inning win over visiting Punxsutawney.

Smitchko was 3-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs.

Autumn Tobia added three RBIs in the win while doubling and going 2-for-4 with two runs scored, and Abe Stere had a pair of doubles going 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

Ciara Toven hit a home run for Punxsutawney going 1-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI, and Brooke Young was 2-for-2.

Sierra Albright got the win going six innings allowing one earned run on four hits while striking out 11.

Karli Young took the loss going three innings allowing eight earned runs on 10 hits while striking out two. Brynn Hergert gave up three earned runs on five hits and three walks while striking out one.
