May 17, 2021 D10 Softball: Corry, Warren, Saegertown get Strong Pitching Performances in Wins

CORRY 8, GROVE CITY 3

CORRY, Pa. – Corry scored three runs in both the third and fourth innings, building a 7-0 lead on their way to an 8-3 triumph over Grove City. 

Melanie Scouten had an RBI triple in the fourth innings and Lexy Hasbrouck an RBI groundout. 

   

                  

Lexi Frisina was strong in the circle for the Beavers, allowing just two earned runs and striking out three in the complete-game victory. 

Braydin Gwin put down a bunt that brought in the first run of the game for Corry. Haylee Dyne also had an RBI for the Beavers. 

Logan Jones toed the rubber for GC, allowing four earned runs on nine hits while striking out four in her six innings of work. 

Chloe Lenkner hit a 2-run double in the seventh inning for the Eagles, while Abby Geiger was 2-for-2 with a double and a run scored. 

WARREN 5, GENERAL MCLANE 1

                          

WARREN, Pa. – Warren scored four runs in the first inning and Kelsey Stuart was brilliant in the circle in the Dragons’ 5-1 win over General McLane. 

A 2-run single by Alix Lytle got the Dragon offense going in the first, followed by an RBI fielder’s choice from Alex Neureiter and an RBI groundout courtesy of Ellee Irwin. 

Stuart was in control from start to finish. She allowed just three hits and struck out 14 and walked just one. The run she allowed was unearned. She also was 2-for-2 with a double and scored a pair of runs. 

The Dragons added a run in the fifth on a Neureiter RBI single. 

               

Bailey Cannon took the loss for GM, allowing five earned runs in six innings. She gave up seven hits, struck out six and walked one. Catrina Miller had two doubles and an RBI for the Lancers. 

SAEGERTOWN 10, ROCKY GROVE 0, 6 innings 

SAEGERTOWN, Pa. – Mikaila Obenrader tossed a complete-game 2-hitter as Saegertown knocked off Rocky Grove, 10-0. 

Obenrader struck out 14 without issuing a walk.

The Panthers scored five runs in the third inning. Kylie Stafford was 3-for-4 with a double, while Abigail Kirdahy drove in a pair of runs and also scored two. Kylie Thompson also had two runs and an RBI for the Panthers, who had eight different players scored and seven collect at least one hit. 

LAKEVIEW 17, COMMODORE PERRY 0, 5 innings

HADLEY, Pa. – Elizabeth Chaffee had a big day at the plate to help lead Lakeview to a 17-0 win over Commodore Perry. 

Chaffee was 5-for-5 with two doubles, three RBIs and two runs in the victory, as Lakeview scored seven runs in the second inning. 

Sierra Williams was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and three runs for the Sailors, while Danielle Sontheimer was 2-for-5 with two RBIs and Jaide Bowmer 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs. Ryleigh Booher was also 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI. 

Chaffee pitched three perfect innings, striking out four. Bowmer pitched two scoreless innings, allowing two hits and striking out two. 

            

MEADVILLE 12, MERCYHURST PREP 0, 5 innings

MEADVILLE, Pa. – Meadville scored five runs in both the first and second innings on its way to a 12-0 win over Mercyhurst Prep. 

Samantha Hall was 2-for-3 with three RBIs for the Bulldogs, while Aliviah Ashton and Carlie Longo had two RBIs apiece. 

Lexi Carr tripled and scored two runs for Meadville, while Ashon, Longo, Eva Dillaman and Katie Say also crossed the plate twice. 

Say pitched two perfect innings with four strikeouts, while Madelyn Hilson also went two scoreless, allowing one hit and one walk while striking out three.
