WARREN SWEEPS FORT LEBOEUF

WARREN, Pa. – Kelsey Stuart threw two gems to lead Warren to a sweep of Fort LeBoeuf in a battle for second place in Region 5.

Stuart threw a two-hit shutout in Game One striking out eight.

In the second game, she was nearly as good allowing an unearned run on three hits and two walks while striking out 11.

               

Stuart needed to be great because Fort LeBoeuf’s two pitchers – Kendal Stull and Jordan Popowski were spot on.

Stull pitched the first game and was the tough-luck loser going six innings allowing two runs, one earned, on two hits and a walk while striking out three.

Popowski pitched the nightcap and allowed two unearned runs on two hits and a walk while striking out three.

In the first game, Warren took a 1-0 lead in the third innings on a sacrifice fly by Rylie Yeager that scored Halle Kuzminski, who had walked to lead off, went to the second on a wild pitch and to third on a Katie Madigan single.

The Lady Dragons made it 2-0 an inning later when Alex Neureiter reached on an error went to second in a single by Carly Beers and to third on a wild pitch before scoring on an infield single by Elee Irwin.

                          

In Game Two, Fort LeBoeuf took a 1-0 lead in the third on a two-out triple by Popowski that scored Megan Richardson, who started the inning with a walk.

The game remained 1-0 until the top of the sixth when a single by Madigan scored Kuzminski, who reached on a leadoff error, to tie the game at one. Madigan then gave the Lady Dragons the lead when she scored on a two-out double to left by Stuart.

REYNOLDS 13, LAKEVIEW 3, 6 INNINGS

GREENVILLE, Pa. – Reynolds used a 14-hit attack to beat visiting Lakeview, 13-3, in six innings.

Rylee Gearhart led the Raiders going 3-for-3 with a double, a walk, three runs scored, and five RBIs.

               

Lea Miller also drove home three while going 1-for4, while Mackenzie Herman was 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI, and two runs scored, and Phoenix Collings was 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and two RBIs.

Also for Reynolds, Kylie McAdoo went 2-for-4 with two runs scored, and Andrea Hillyer was 1-for-2 with a walk, an RBI and two runs scored.

Danielle Sontheimer had a nice game for Lakeview going 2-for-2 with a home run, a double, a run scored, and an RBI, while Sophia DiMaria also homered and was 1-for-1 with a run scored and an RBI. Zoe Proper chipped in a 2-for-3 morning within an RBI.

Lauren Bonner got the win going five innings allowing two earned runs on six hits and a hit batter while striking out two. Herman pitched one inning allowing a run on two hits while striking out two.

Izzy Chaffee took the loss going three innings allowing seven earned runs on six hits, two walks, and a hit batter. Jaide Bowmer pitched 2 ⅔ innings allowing six earned runs on eight hits and two walks.

REYNOLDS 13, SHARPSVILLE 3, 5 INNINGS

SHARPSVILLE, Pa. – After beating Lakeview, Reynolds hoped on Route 18 and made the short trip out to Sharpsville coming away with a second 13-3 win, this time in five innings.

Andreea Hillyer and Halyn Cawthorne led the way offensively for the Raiders with Cawthorne going 4-for-4 with a double, four runs scored, and five RBIs, and Hillyer going 2-for-4 with a home run, a triple, two runs scored, and two RBIs.

Kylie McAdoo was also 4-for-4 with a double, an RBI, and four runs scored, while Marissa Hillyer was 2-for-4 with two runs scored, and Mackenzie Herman was 1-for-4 with three RBIs.

            

Breanna Hanley led Sharpsville going 2-for-2 with a walk, a run scored, and two RBIs.

Cawthorne got the win in relief of Herman going three innings allowing an earned run on three hits and a walk while striking out two. Herman pitched two innings allowing two earned runs on six hits while striking out two.

Hanley took the loss going five innings allowing 13 runs, 12 earned, on 15 hits and walk while striking out six.

CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS 13, ROCKY GROVE 3, 5 INNINGS

CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS, Pa. – Taylor Smith had a single, double, and home run to lead Cambridge Springs to a 13-3, five-inning win over visiting Rocky Grove.

Smith added four RBIs, while Aly Acosta-Reyes had three RBIs.

Hailee Rodgers got the win going five innings allowing three runs while striking out eight.

MCDOWELL 15, MEADVILLE 0, 3 INNINGS

MEADVILLE, Pa. – A 10-run third inning helped visiting McDowell to a 15-0, three-inning victory over Meadville.

Alivia Soule led the way for the Lady Trojans going 2-for-2 with two doubles, a walk, two runs scored, and three RBIs.

Alyssa Draghi also drove in three runs going 1-for-1 with two walks and two runs scored, while Taytum Iavarone was 2-for-3 with a run scored and two RBIs.

Also for McDowell, Katie Enzbrenner went 2-for-2 with a double, a walk, two RBIs, and three runs scored, Hannah Powierza was 2-for-2 with a double, a walk, and three runs scored, and Lexxie Biel was 1-for-3 with a run scored and two RBIs.

Soule didn’t allow a base runner in three innings of work striking out eight – the final eight she faced.

FAIRVIEW 11, TITUSVILLE 3

TITUSVILLE, Pa. – Emma DiStefano hit a home run while going 3-for-4 with three runs scored and three RBIs to lead visiting Fairview to an 11-3 win over Titusville.

Ella Dworek added a 2-for-4 day with a triple, two runs scored and two RBIs for the Tigers, while Gabi Ortiz was 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored, Chloe McManus was 2-fro-4 with a run scored and an RBI, and Julia Golden was 1-for-4 with two runs scored.

Hailey Komisarski got the win in relief of Cami Munson. Komisarski went 3 ⅔ innings allowing one hit, two walks, and a hit batter while striking out one.

Munson started and went 3 ⅓ innings giving up three earned runs on four hits and five walks while striking out five.

ST. MARYS 5, CORRY 0

CORRY, Pa. – Kendall Young tossed a two-hit shutout with three walks and 15 strikeouts and went 2-for-4 with a double at the plate, as visiting St. Marys beat Corry, 5-0.

Young needed to be at her best, as St. Marys led 1-0 until the seventh when the Lady Dutch exploded for four runs to break the game open.

Kara Hanslovan hit a two-run home run in the seventh and was 1-for-4 with a run scored and two RBIs.

Gianna Surra had a pair of doubles for St. Marys and went 2-for-4, while Brianna Grotzinger was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.

Olivia Eckles also went 2-for-4 for the Lady Dutch with an RBI and a run scored, and Shannon Kaiser was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Courtesy runner Jianna Gerg also scored twice.

Lexi Frisina and Melanie Scouten each had hits for Corry.

Frisina took the loss going seven innings allowing five earned runs on 13 hits while striking out five.

HARBOR CREEK 11, GROVE CITY 1

GROVE CITY, Pa. – Rylee Vogt had a monster day at the plate to lead Harbor Creek to an 11-1 win at Grove City.

Vogt was 4-4 with a 3-run home run and six RBI. Haiden Manning had a pair of hits with three runs scored and three driven in.

Manning also picked up the win in the circle. She scattered six hits over six innings, allowed one earned run, walked one and struck out nine.

MERCER 10, WEST MIDDLESEX 2

MERCER, Pa. – A 5-run fifth turned a 1-run game into a big win as Mercer topped West Middlesex, 10-2.

The offensive explosion backed a stellar pitching effort from Amanda Bish. Bish gave up two earned runs on five hits, didn’t allow a walk and struck out 16. She also went 2-4 at the plate with a home run, two RBI and scored twice.

Alex Schuster also drove in a pair.

The Mustangs’ offense took advantage of seven Big Reds errors in the game.

Ava Gilmore took the loss as she gave up 10 runs, two earned, on six hits with three walks and five strikeouts.

HICKORY 14, OIL CITY 0, 5 INNINGS
HERMITAGE, Pa. – Hickory scored seven runs in the first en route to a 14-0 win over Oil City.

Hallie Miller led the way with a 3-hit, 4-RBI day at the plate. Malaiah Burns also had three hits and scored three times. Ella Holland, Ava Houy and Kendra Koerth each had two RBI. Koerth and Houy each scored two runs.

Lydia Hallas allowed just two hits in her five shutout innings with three walks and six strikeouts.
