MERCYHURST PREP 5, TITUSVILLE 0

ERIE, Pa. – Hayden Zaffino pitched a 5-hit shutout as Mercyhurst Prep beat Titusville, 5-0. 

Zaffino struck out 10 and walked just two, throwing 70 of his 98 pitches for strikes. 

   

                  

Offensively, Caleb Bish was 1-for-2 with two RBIs for the Lakers, Mike Nelligan 2-for-3 with two runs, Joey Colon 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Zaffino also drove in a run. 

Kasen Neely had two hits for Titusville. 

Garrett Knapp took the loss, allowing three runs (two earned) in five innings, striking out three without issuing a walk.

SHARPSVILLE 12, REYNOLDS 1

GREENVILLE, Pa. – Cameron Williams homered and was one of four Sharpsville players with two RBIs in a 12-1 win over Reynolds. 

                          

Jared Leipheimer, Kolten Eckles, and Brock Lenzi all drove in two runs for the Blue Devils, with Leipheimer collecting three hits. 

The Blue Devils scored three runs in both the second, sixth, and seventh innings. 

Braden Scarvel (4 IP) and Eli Eckles (3IP) shared the pitching duties. Scravel struck out five. 

Hayden Calenda took the loss. 

               

WEST MIDDLESEX 14, MERCER 2

MERCER, Pa. – West Middlesex scored four runs in both the third and seventh innings in a 14-2 win over Mercer. 

Eight different Big Reds had at least one hit. Derrik Zappa was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs, while Lukas Stinedurf was 1-for-2 with two RBIs and three runs and Gio Rococi 2-for-4 with two RBIs. 

Garrett Donaldson got the win, allowing two unearned runs on just three hits. He struck out nine and walked four. 

GENERAL MCLANE 11, WARREN 1

EDINBORO, Pa. – General McLane scored 11 unanswered runs in an 11-1 win over Warren. The Lancers scored three runs in the second inning, four in the sixth, and three in the seventh. 

Clayton Boutte was 3-for-5 with two doubles, two RBIs, and two runs, while Alex Beach also drove in a pair. Eric Matthews had two hits, one RBI, and one run. 

Matthews got the win, going 5 ⅔ innings, striking out 11, and allowing just three hits. 

J.T. Blum had two hits for Warren. Eric Dippold took the loss, allowing four runs in five innings. He surrendered seven hits and struck out five.

CLARION 8, ROCKY GROVE 4

            

SUGARCREEK BOROUGH, Pa. – Freshman Dawson Smail continued his fine play going 3-for-4 with a triple, a walk, a run scored, and three RBIs in Clarion’s 8-4 win at Rocky Grove.

Tanner Miller added a 2-for-2 day with two runs scored for the Bobcats with Gary Matus going 1-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs, and Hunter Craddock going 1-for-2 with a triple, two walks, a run scored, and two RBIs.

Reece Henderson was 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored for Rocky Grove.

Devon Lauer got the win going six innings allowing an unearned run on four hits while striking out two. Matus went an inning giving up three runs, one earned, on a hit and two walks while striking out one.

Aaron Burkhardt took the loss in relief of Isaac Clayton. He gave up two earned runs on two hits and three walks while striking out two. Clayton went three innings allowing two hits. Eli Wilson gave up six runs, two earned, on four hits, a walk, and a hit batter in two innings of work.
