May 1, 2023 College Roundup: Grove City’s Kilbane, Leslie, Linhart Earn PAC Weekly Awards

GROVE CITY, Pa. – Three Grove City College spring sports athletes earned Presidents’ Athletic Conference weekly recognition Monday evening in honor of their respective performances last week.

The Grove City baseball team produced a pair of honorees as sophomore third baseman Mally Kilbane (Olmsted Falls, Ohio/Olmsted Falls) earned Hitter of the Week while sophomore pitcher David Leslie (Butler, Pa./Butler) secured the league’s Pitcher of the Week award.

Sophomore second baseman Maci Linhart (Columbiana, Ohio/Columbiana) earned Hitter of the Week in softball.

Kilbane went 14 for 20 (.700) with 13 runs scored last week, helping Grove City to a 5-1 week. He had two triples, and two doubles, drove in six runs walked five times, and reached twice via hit batsman. He recorded a .778 on-base percentage and a 1.000 slugging percentage.

Kilbane went 5 for 5 with a triple, double, and three runs scored last Monday in Game Two of the Wolverines’ doubleheader against Thiel. He capped his week by going 4 for 4 with four walks and six runs scored Saturday in a doubleheader sweep of Franciscan.

Kilbane is now hitting .456 this season. He leads the Wolverines with 57 hits, 14 doubles, 21 walks, and a .554 on-base percentage.

Leslie went 2-0 with an 0.64 earned run average last week in conference play. He struck out 13 men and allowed 10 hits in 14 total innings. Leslie allowed one earned run and six hits while striking out seven in seven innings in a Game One win last Monday over Thiel. Leslie then allowed only four hits and yielded two unearned runs while fanning six Saturday against Franciscan.

Leslie is 5-1 with a 1.24 earned run average in six conference starts. Overall, he is 6-2 with three complete games, three saves, and 64 strikeouts in 66 2/3 innings this season. Leslie has a 3.24 ERA in his 14 appearances, which includes nine starts.

Linhart hit .667 (10 for 15) last week while helping Grove City to a 4-1 week. She finished the week 5 for 6 with four runs scored and a double in Grove City’s doubleheader sweep Thursday of Saint Vincent. That came after she went 3 for 4 with two runs scored and a stolen base in the 5-1 victory Wednesday at Washington & Jefferson.

Linhart scored nine runs for the week and knocked in four. She had a .706 on-base percentage and a .688 slugging percentage for the week. Linhart is now hitting .413 this season. She has scored a Grove City-record 39 runs this year and also leads the Wolverines with 11 stolen bases and four triples.
