OSWAYO VALLEY 13, CAMERON COUNTY 3, 5 INNINGS
EMPORIUM, Pa. – Scoring 12 combined runs in the second and third innings, visiting Oswayo Valley started the season off on the right foot with a 13-3, five-inning win over Cameron County.
The Green Wave, who trailed 1-0 at the end of one inning, exploded for seven runs in the second and five in the third to take a 12-2 lead after three.
Oswayo Valley, who didn’t win a game last year, used seven hits, seven walks, and a hit batter as well as eight Cameron County errors to score the 13 runs.
Gaige Hohenwarter led Oswayo Valley at the plate going 2-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBIs.
Brayden Wiley was also 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI, while Cayden Black went 2-for-3 with a walk, two runs scored, and an RBI. Alek Harmon also scored a pair of runs.
Black got the win going five innings allowing three runs, two earned, on six hits, a walk, and a hit batter while striking out 10.
Jake Narby paced Cameron County going 2-for-2 with a run scored, while Jesop Farabaugh was 1-for-2 with a double, a walk, and a run scored, and Maddox Baughman was 1-for-03 with a run scored, and an RBI.
Eastyn Solveson took the loss going 1 2/3 innings allowing six unearned runs on two hits and a walk while striking out five.
A-C VALLEY/UNION 16, KEYSTONE 6, 6 INNINGS
DUBOIS, Pa. – Scoring 12 of its 16 runs in its final two at-bats, A-C Valley topped Keystone, 16-6, in six innings, in the season opener for both teams at Stern Field in DuBois.
Max Lowery drove in three runs for the Falcon Knights while going 2-for-4 with a run scored.
Trey Fleming added a 2-for-4 performance with three runs scored, and an RBI, while Zeke Causey was 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBIs.
Also for A-C Valley/Union, Ryan Cooper was 1-for-2 with a triple, a walk, two RBIs, and three runs scored, Gary Amsler had a pair of walks, two RBIs, and a run scored, and Sebastian Link was 1-for-3 with a walk, two runs scored, and an RBI.
Fleming got the win in relief going two innings allowing one earned runs on four hits and a walk while striking out four. Cooper finished the game with a scoreless inning of relief striking out two.
Aidan Sell went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, and a run scored. Ian Keth went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored, and Nick Cosper was 1-for-1 with two walks, a double, and two RBIs.
Sell took the loss going four innings allowing eight runs, six earned, on four hits and five walks. He struck out two.
