
GUYS MILLS, Pa. – It was another classic between rivals Maplewood and Cochranton Thursday night at Maplewood with the Tigers getting a combined 27 kills from Elizabeth Hunter and Madison O’Hara to hold off a comeback attempt from the Cardinals in a 3-2 (25-14, 25-23, 16-25, 21-25, 15-12) victory.
Hunter had 14 kills and O’Hara had a double-double with 13 kills and 12 digs to lead the way for Maplewood.
Bree Neely also added seven kills and 17 digs for the Tigers with Lexy Potosky pacing the Maplewood defense with 23 digs.
Maggie Means ran the offense for the defending District 10 and PIAA Class 1A champions with 30 set assists and completed a double-double with 18 digs.
Maggie Jackson had a match-high 29 kills for Cochranton while Brooklyn Needler added 15 kills and 11 digs and Danielle Hoffman 13 kills and nine digs.
Macie Williams led the Cardinals’ defense with 23 digs.
