KSAC Playoffs Get Underway Thursday at Tippin Gym; Clarion U. Requiring Masks

CLARION, Pa. – The KSAC playoffs get underway Thursday, Feb. 17, at Clarion University’s Tippin Gym with the girls’ semifinals, and Clarion University will require all spectators to wear masks.

According to Clarion University’s COVID-19 informational page, “face coverings are still required in all facilities, regardless of vaccination status.”

Joey Lopez, Events and Facilities Coordinator for the Clarion University Athletics Department confirmed the mask requirement with D9and10Sports.com.

“Masks are required at all events on Clarion’s campus that are indoors, currently,” Lopez said.

According to Lopez, masks will be made available for those who don’t have one.

Clarion University’s COVID-19 page recommends “higher-grade” masks like K94 or KF94 masks or disposable surgical masks.

“Face shields, bandanas, neck gaiters, scarves, turtleneck collars, masks with valves and balaclavas/ski masks not acceptable,” the site said.

The site also said cloth and handmade face coverings are “discouraged”.

“If they are used, it is strongly recommended they be worn with a surgical mask,” the site said.

According to the site, a mask must fit snugly over the wearer’s nose and mouth and under the chin, and snugly against the sides of the wearer’s face.

Players will not be required to wear masks when playing.
