Knox Ties Oil City Record in Victory, Prep Rallies for Wild Win in Week 2 D10 Thursday Night Football

   
   

OIL CITY, Pa. – Ethen Knox surpassed his 300-yard, five-touchdown performance in Week 1, tying an Oil City single-game record with seven touchdowns in a 55-6 win over Corry.

Knox ran for 402 yards to go along with the seven scores, putting him over 700 yards on the ground through the first two weeks. The seven touchdowns tied Mo Hadley’s record of seven set in 2015. Hadley’s touchdowns were all receiving, per Penny Weichel of route8rivalry.com.

His first scoring run came on a 13-yard plunge to give Oil City a 6-0 lead. After Corry tied the game at 6-6, Knox came back with a 19-yard scoring scamper, starting a string of 49 unanswered points for the Oilers.

He followed that up with touchdown runs of 81, 1, 9 15 yards in the first half, and also had an interception on defense sandwiched in to give the Oilers a 42-6 halftime lead.

            

After Knox’s seventh touchdown, Carl Chelton also found paydirt for the Oilers in the second half to cap the scoring.

Knox now unofficially has 706 yards and 12 total touchdowns through two games.

CATHEDRAL PREP 22, CLARKSON NORTH 17

ERIE, Pa. – Cathedral Prep was dead to rights against Clarkson North – and then they weren’t.

Carter Barnes’ 59-yard touchdown pass to Suhtaun Lewis inside 20 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter lifted the Ramblers to a wild 22-17 win, giving head coach Mike Krahe his first win in the process.

                          

Prep trailed 17-13 with 28 seconds left when Clarkson North took a safety after being pinned deep in its own territory. That set up the late-game heroics from Barnes to Lewis.

The Ramblers led 6-0 after field goals of 32 and 23 yards by Cole Constable, taking that lead into the locker room at halftime.

Clarkson took a 10-6 lead late in the third quarter, but Prep rallied, thanks to a 12-yard touchdown run from Barnes.

Clarkson re-took the lead with 3:05 left in the fourth quarter before the Prep rally.

LAKEVIEW 35, SAEGERTOWN 15

STONEBORO, Pa. – Lakeview scored 21 points in the fourth quarter to pull away for a 35-15 win over Saegertown.

Danick Hinkson scored on runs of 6 and 8 yards, while Sean Cole added a 4-yard scoring run for the Sailors (1-1) Hinkson finished the game with four touchdowns.

Hinkson had another big game on the ground, rushing for 95 yards, while Mitchell Tingley carried the ball for 80 yards for the Sailors.

Hinkson scored on a 38-yard touchdown run and also return a kickoff 81 yards for a score after Henry Shaffer had tied the game 7-7 on a punt return touchdown.

With Lakeview ahead 35-9, Aaron Shartle added a late touchdown run for Saegertown (0-2).

                        

Sully Zirkle finished with 155 yards through the air for Saegertown, 84 of which went to Shaffer.

GIRARD 31, NORTH EAST 14

NORTH EAST, Pa. – Gabe Messme threw for four touchdowns as Girard picked up its first win of the season, 31-14 over North East.

Stephen Foster caught a pair of those touchdowns for the Jackets.

Jackson Humes added a touchdown toss for North East.
