MECHANICSBURG, Pa. – Led by Oil City record-setting running back Ethen Knox, a total of four District 9/10 players earned Class 3A PA Football Writers All-State honors.

Knox is joined by his teammate, offensive lineman Cam Crocker, as well as Harbor Creek offensive lineman Nick Krahe and Clearfield defensive lineman Isaac Samsel.

Knox had a season for the ages for Oil City, with Crocker leading an offensive line that paved the way.

The Oilers finished the season 7-3, with Knox ranking second in the nation in rushing yards among teams that enter their stats on MaxPreps with 3,705 yards. Knox had 41 rushing touchdowns, averaging 370.5 yards per game on the ground, and rushed for at least 400 yards in six games, including four in a row from Week 2 through Week 5. That broke a national record for most games with 400-plus yards in a season, a record that was held by current Tennessee Titans star Derrick Henry.

Krahe established himself as one of the state’s top offensive linemen, with the 3-star prospect recently signing to play at West Virginia.

Samsel, meanwhile, helped lead Clearfield to a D9 title in legendary coach Tim Janocko’s final season at the helm. Samsel, who was the D9and10Sports.com D9 Defensive Lineman of the Year, recorded 88 tackles (7.3 per game) including 23.5 tackles for a loss and four sacks while recovering one fumble.

Central’s Jeff Hoenstine repeated as Class 3A Player of the Year, while Matt Humbert of Belle Vernon earned Coach of the Year honors.
