Jan. 8, 2021 D10 Boys/Girls BBall: Maplewood, Girard, Franklin Boys Win Close; Warren, Cambridge Springs Among Girls Winners

Jan. 8 District 10 boys’ and girls’ basketball recaps.

MAPLEWOOD 45, YOUNGSVILLE 43

YOUNGSVILLE, Pa. – Brandon Snell poured in a game-high 22 points to lead Maplewood to a hard-fought 45-43 win over Youngsville. 

Included in those 22 points was a big fourth-quarter 3 that helped the Tigers to victory. 

                                      

Ethan Kesterholt led Youngsville with 14 points, while Carson Chase and Timber Bower added nine each. 

Logan Kennedy also had 12 points for Maplewood. 

FRANKLIN 59, FORT LEBOEUF 56

WATERFORD, Pa. – Easton Fulmer scored 11 of his 20 points in the fourth quarter as Franklin rallied for a 59-56 road win at Fort LeBoeuf. 

The Knights outscored the Bison 13-7 in the fourth quarter en route to the win. 

                          

Hayden Adams scored 15 points and Damon Curry 13 for the winners. 

The game was tied 26-26 at halftime. 

Brandon Drayer scored 19 points and Marquis Richmond 17 for the Bison. 

GIRARD 36, MERCYHURST PREP 34

GIRARD, Pa. – Austin Shady’s 3-pointer with under two seconds remaining lifted the Yellow Jackets to a dramatic 36-34 win over Mercyhurst Prep. 

It capped a comeback for the Jackets that saw them rally from a 7-point deficit to start the fourth quarter. 

Shady had 11 points in the win, while Ethan Getz had a game-high 12. 

Daunte Wilcott had nine points and Trey Battle eight for the Lakers. 

HARBOR CREEK 46, WARREN 26

WARREN, Pa. – Cody Smith led a balanced scoring effort with 13 points as Harbor Creek knocked off host Warren, 46-26.

                                   

The Huskies outscored the Dragons 18-2 in the second quarter en route to the win. 

Sam Howell and Jaden Rocco had seven points apiece for the winners. 

Ben Berdine led Warren with eight points. 

CATHEDRAL PREP 81, MCDOWELL 77

ERIE, Pa. – Liam Galla poured in 31 points as Cathedral Prep held off McDowell, 81-77. 

The Ramblers overcame a big effort from McDowell’s Jonah Bock, who finished with 26 points. 

Khali Horton had 24 points for the Ramblers, while Will Innes added 10. 

The win was the second of the season for Prep over the Trojans.

Bock was one of four Trojans in double figures, as Jaden Harper had 15, Max Paris 13 and Jackson Hower 12. 

UNION CITY 63, EISENHOWER 51

UNION CITY, Pa. – Behind 19 points from Matthew Bennett, Union City knocked off Eisenhower, 63-51. 

The Bears overcame a big performance from Eisenhower’s Owen Trumbull, who scored 23 points in the loss. 

Union City led 29-18 at halftime. 

Shane Uber had 11 points and Kyler Shaffer nine for the Bears. 

FAIRVIEW 63, SHARON 29

                                  

FAIRVIEW, Pa. – James Sitter scored a game-high 20 points as Fairview rolled past visiting Sharon. 

Tyler Shultz added 15 and Logan Frazao 10 for the TIgers, who led 31-13 at halftime. 

Shawn Hill had nine points to pace Sharon.

SAEGERTOWN 60, IROQUOIS 42

SAEGERTOWN, Pa. –  Saegertown outscored Iroquois 33-18 in the second half en route to a 60-42 victory. 

Max Fuller led a balanced Panthers’ effort with 16 points, while Isaac Johnson added 15 and Brady Greco 14 for the Panthers. 

Corrion Combest and Logan Briggs scored 11 points each for Iroquois. 

KENNEDY CATHOLIC 96, JAMESTOWN 30

JAMESTOWN, Pa. – Elijah Harden led six Kennedy Catholic players in double figures with 20 points as they rolled to victory over Jamestown. 

KC led 34-7 after the first quarter. 

Malik Lampkins-Rudolph scored 19 points and Gio Magestro 14, while Malachi Owens had 11 and Dajaun Young and Remington Hart 10 each. 

Cameron Keyser had 10 points to lead Jamestown. 

GIRLS

WARREN 57, FRANKLIN 24

WARREN, Pa. – Riley Childress scored 19 points as Warren eased past visiting Franklin, 57-24. 

The Lady Dragons scored the first 12 points of the game and never looked back. 

Childress scored 13 of her points in the first quarter. 

Emma Ruhlman had 15 points for Warren and Kelsey Stuart eight. 

CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS 47, NORTHWESTERN 28

ALBION, Pa. – Maddie Yanc poured in 22 points as Cambridge Springs cruised to a 47-28 win over Northwestern. 

The Blue Devils led 32-10 at halftime. 

Jordyn Wheeler added 11 points for the winners. 

Jessamine Saxton had 11 points to pace Northwestern. 

KENNEDY CATHOLIC 66, HARBOR CREEK 34 

HARBORCREEK, Pa. –  Paris Gilmore and Alayjah Jones scored 16 points each as Kennedy Catholic powered past Harbor Creek. 

KC outscored the Huskies 23-6 in the second quarter en route to the win. 

Bellah DiNardo and Keegan McConahy had 13 points apiece for the winners, who led 38-18 at halftime. 

Samantha Zank had 16 points for Harbor Creek..

GREENVILLE 49, REYNOLDS 33

GREENVILLE, Pa. – Grace Cano scored 14 points to lift Greenville to a win over Reynolds.

Greenville used an 18-7 advantage in the second quarter to take control of the game.

Reese Schaller added 12 points for Greenville, while Chloe McLaughlin had 10 for Reynolds.

SHENANGO 58, WILMINGTON 12

NEW CASTLE, Pa. – Janie Natale scored 19 points as Shenango beat Wilmington. 

Emilee Fefrizzi has 12 points for Shenango and Kelly Cleaver 11.
