Jan. 4, 2022 Wrestling: Sheffield Edges Clarion; Saegertown Gets Big Win Over Corry

CLARION, Pa. – Sheffield and Clarion finished deadlocked at 33-33, with the Wolverines winning 34-33 based on criteria (fewest forfeits).

                        

Danah Campbell got things going for the Wolverines with a 3-2 decision. Sheffield also got a victory from Cooper Traister (145, first-period pin). The Wolverines were also the beneficiary of four forfeits.

For Clarion, Logan Powell earned a pin at 106, as did Breckin Rex at 172 and Caleb Edmonds at 189. Clarion’s Mason Gourley also earned a hard-fought 6-3 win over Trenton Mead at 138.

SAEGERTOWN 32, CORRY 27

SAEGERTOWN, Pa. – Josh Perrine’s 9-3 decision over Xavier Reyda at 285 secured a 32-27 win for Corry over Seneca.

Also winning for the Panthers were Carter Beck (113, pin), Hunter Robison (120, 8-6 decision), Owen Hershelman (126, 11-0 major decision), Greg Kiser (138, 6-2 decision), and Landon Caldwell (189, pin). The Panthers also had a forfeit win at 106.

William Allen earned a pin for Corry at 132, as did Hayden Linkerhof at 215, while Hunter Savitz (152) and Trey Proper (160) won via decision and Mason Savitz by major decision at 172.

CLEARFIELD 32, BALD EAGLE AREA 22

                          

HYDE, Pa. – Clearfield earned four wins by decision on its way to a 32-22 win over Bald Eagle Area.

Luke Freeland (145, 7-4), Will Domico (152, 5-3), Karson Kline (160, 2-0), and Hayden Kovalick (215, 3-1) all won by decision for the Bison.

Mark McGonigal (172) and Oliver Billotte (285) both won via fall for the Bison, while Adam Rougeux (120) and Nolan Barr (132) won by major decision.

REDBANK VALLEY 57, PUNXSUTAWNEY 18

NEW BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Redbank Valley won four matches by fall and five by forfeit in a 57-18 win over Punxsy.

Ridge Cook (138), Cole McHenry (189), Carsen Rupp (215) and Gabe Carroll (285) all won by pin for the Bulldogs, while Blake Duncan (160) earned a 4-2 decision.

Brice Rowan (145) and Brady Smith (152) won by fall for the Chucks.

GREENVILLE 66, MERCER 9

MERCER, Pa. – Greenville won seven matches by forfeit and four by fall in a 66-9 win over Mercer.

Neo Roskie (160), Bennett Hayne (172), Braydon Porter (120) and Nevada Koehler (126) all got pins for the Trojans.

                           

Michael Berger (152) earned a 7-3 decision for Mercer, while Carter Wise got a pin at 113.
