Jan. 29, 2022 Wrestling: GM, McDowell Lead the way at Fred Bell; Clearfield, Hickory Shine at Ultimate Warrior

GROVE CITY, Pa. – District 9 and 10 wrestlers claimed eight first-place finishes at the Fred Bell Tournament, with General McLane leading the way in the team standings, finishing fourth with 127.5.

                        

Penns Valley took home the team title with 157.5 points, followed by Pine-Richland and Peters Township.

Taking home gold were Elijah Brosius (106, Cranberry), Hunter Gould (120, Conneaut), Connor Pierce (138, Harbor Creek), Artis Simmons (152, McDowell), Magnus Lloyd (172, General McLane), Louden Gledhill (189, Cochranton), Troy Peterson (215, McDowell) and Wilson Spires (285, General McLane).

CLEARFIELD, HICKORY SHINE at ULTIMATE WARRIOR

                          

MORRISDALE, Pa. – Hickory and Clearfield turned in impressive performances at the Ultimate Warriors Tournament at West Branch High School.

Hickory’s Louie Gill (106) and Carter Gill (145) claimed titles, as did Clearfield’s Oliver Billotte with a first-period pin over Brockway’s Gavin Thompson.

Brady Collins (126), Mark McGonigal (172), and Hayden Kovalick (215) took seconds for the Bison.

Connor Saylor (138) finished second for Hickory.

In the team standings, Clearfield finished second (192 points) to only Mifflin County (215.5). Hickory was fourth with 129 points.

Reynolds, which got a third-place finish from Jalen Wagner (172) and fourth from Kane Kettering (145), finished sixth in the 35-team field with 120 points, while Brockway finished 11th in the team standings (105), also getting a third-place effort from Weston Pisarchick (113).

Port Allegany (64.5) finished 15th in the team standings, while Bradford and Johnsonburg finished tied for 20th (46). Chase Weimer (126) took sixth for the Gators.
