Jan. 27 District 9 girls’ basketball recaps

COUDERSPORT 37, NORTHERN POTTER 31

ULYSSES, Pa. – Sierra Myers scored six of her eight points in the fourth quarter to help Coudersport to a 37-31 NTL road victory over Northern Potter.

The Lady Falcons and Lady Panthers were all knotted up at 23 at the end of the third quarter before Myers, Liz Frame and Bel Porterfield combined to score all 14 of Coudersport’s fourth-quarter points while going a combined 8 of 8 from the free-throw line (Porterfield was 4 of 4).

Frame finished with 16 points to lead Coudy.

                                      

Rebecca Martin had 14 points and eight rebounds for NoPo with Megan Hyde adding six points and three steals and Courtney Martin five points and 10 rebounds.

ST. MARYS 45, BROOKVILLE 36

BROOKVILLE, Pa. – Outscoring homestanding Brookville 20-7 in the second quarter, St. Marys beat the Lady Raiders, 45-36, in D9 League action.

The Lady Dutch led 29-19 at halftime thanks to the strong second quarter.

Izzy Catalone led St. Marys with 11 points with Maura Caskey adding nine and Oliva Eckels seven.

                          

Alayna Haight hit four 3-pointers and scored 12 points to pace Brookville with Elizabeth Wonderling adding 10.

GALETON 42, AUSTIN 30

GALETON, Pa. – Ali Macensky had 17 points, 13 rebounds, and six blocked shots to lead Galeton to its second win of the year, 42-30, over visiting Austin in NTL action.

The Lady Tigers, who had lost eight in a row, also got 11 points and six assists from Lauren Sauley.

Ella Brewer paced Austin with 12 points with Isabella Rees adding 11.

OTTO-ELDRED 53, CAMERON COUNTY 21

EMPORIUM, Pa. – Katie Sheeler led a trio of Otto-Eldred players in double digits with 21 points to help the visiting Lady Terrors knock off Cameron County, 53-21, in NTL action.

Anna Merry and Brooke Close each added 11 points.

Mikenna Farabaugh paced Cameron County with eight points.

SMETHPORT 43, OSWAYO VALLEY 26

                                   

SHINGLEHOUSE, Pa. – Elizabeth Hungiville scored 13 points and grabbed nine rebounds to help Smethport take home a 43-26 road NTL victory over Oswayo Valley.

Coryn McClain added nine points, six rebounds, and two blocked shot for the Lady Hubbers who also got eight points, 10 rebounds, and two steals from Sabrina Tanner, seven points, six steals, five rebounds, and four assists from Dani Nelson, and six points, four rebounds, two assists, and two steals from Abby Lutz.

Jenna Freer’s six points led Oswayo Valley.

PUNXSUTAWNEY 48, DUBOIS 25

DUBOIS, Pa. – Maeve Hanley scored 13 points, grabbed five rebounds, and came away with two steals to help visiting Punxsutawney beat DuBois, 48-25, in D9 League action.

Chloe Presloid added 10 points, seven rebounds, two assists, and two steals for the Lady Chucks with Danielle Griebel scoring nine points to go with seven assists, five rebounds, and three steals.

Izzy Geist-Salone led DuBois with nine points.

TYRONE 50, CLEARFIELD 24

TYRONE, Pa. – Jaida Parker scored 20 points to lift Tyrone to a 50-24 home Mountain League win over Clearfield.

Cayleigh Walker paced Clearfield with nine points with Hannah Glunt adding seven.

GLENDALE 51, CURWENSVILLE 45

FLINTON, Pa. – Minyah Easterling, Glendale’s 6-3 center, scored 24 points to lead the Lady Vikings to a 51-45 win over visiting Curwensville in ICC North action.

Riley Best added 12 points in the win.

Alyssa Bakaysa scored 22 points to pace Curwensville with Skylar Pentz adding 14.
