Jan. 22, 2022 D10 Boys/Girls Hoops: Fairview Girls Beat Girard to Stay Unbeaten; McDowell Boys Notch Overtime Win

FAIRVIEW, Pa. – Fairview outscored Girard 27-11 in the second half to earn a 53-30 Region 3 win and keep its perfect record intact.

The win lifts the Tigers’ record to 13-0.

Sara Gennuso scored 12 of her 15 points in the second half, while Hope Garrity added 13 and Ella Garrity nine.

Kayla Sharman scored 21 of Girard’s 30 points.

WARREN 52, ERIE 22

                                      

WARREN, Pa. – Warren outscored Erie 32-10 in the second half en route to a 52-22 Region 6 win.

Eight different Lady Dragons made their way into the scoring column, led by Emma Ruhlman, Riley Childress and Gracie Ruhlman, who scored 15, 12, and eight points, respectively.

Sammie Ruhlman added seven points for Warren.

Arianna Mitchell led Erie with six points.

SHARPSVILLE 55, GROVE CITY 43

                          

SHARPSVILLE, Pa. – Alli Davis scored 16 points and dished out five assists as Sharpsville earned a 55-43 non-region win over Grove City.

Sharpsville outscored Grove City 19-7 in the second quarter on its way to the win.

Breanna Hanley had nine points and seven boards, Tori Kimpan added seven points and six blocks and Ady Kratko seven points and five assists.

Izzy Gamble led Grove City with 11 points, while Hannah Rieber added 10 and Piper Como nine.

MAPLEWOOD 63, SENECA 43

GUYS MILLS, Pa. – Sadie Thomas scored 20 points as Maplewood powered to a 63-43 Region 2 win over Seneca.

The Tigers led 35-20 at halftime en route to the win.

Liliane Moorhead netted 11 points for Maplewood and Bailey Varndell seven.

Lauren Konkol led Seneca with 11 points.

SLIPPERY ROCK 48, MEADVILLE 20

                                   

MEADVILLE, Pa. – Gianna Bedel scored 18 points as Slippery Rock earned a 48-20 Region 5 win over Meadville.

Bronwyn McCoy added nine points and Katie Book eight for the Rockets, who led 45-12 after three quarters.

Phoebe Templin scored six points for Meadville.

LAKEVIEW 52, FRANKLIN 45

FRANKLIN, Pa. – Reese Gadsby scored 21 points as Lakeview netted a 52-45 win over Franklin.

Gadsby went a perfect 10-of-10 from the free-throw line in the win.

Amber Sefton, Jordan Olson and Kelsey Seddon added seven points each for the Sailors.

The Sailors overcame a big game from Franklin’s Camdon Bashor, who scored 22 points and pulled down 10 rebounds.

VILLA MARIA 48, ST. JOSEPH (OHIO) 34

ERIE, Pa. – Villa Maria built an 18-point halftime lead on its way to a 48-34 win over St. Joseph (Ohio).

Jayden McBride led a balanced effort for Villa with 16 points, Daniela Shaughnessy 13 and Carissa Dunham nine.

Ava Haddad had 16 for St. Joseph.

REYNOLDS 65, SHARON 50

GREENVILLE, Pa. – Reynolds outscored Sharon 22-5 in the second quarter on its way to a 65-50 win over Sharon.

Lawryn Harrold scored a game-high 20 points for Reynolds, one of four Raiders in double figures. Mackenzie Herman netted 13, while Halle Murcko had 12 and Chloe McLaughlin 10.

                                  

Lacey Root poured in 18 points for Sharon.

WILMINGTON 36, OIL CITY 23

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – Lia Krarup scored 11 points as Wilmington outlasted Oil City, 36-23.

Jadyn Flick added nine points for Wilmington, which outscored Oil City 24-12 in the second half.

Maddie Wenner led Oil City with eight points.

BOYS

JAMESTOWN 65, SAEGERTOWN 49

SAEGERTOWN, Pa. – Peyton McElhinny erupted for 30 points as Jamestown earned a 65-49 win over Saegertown.

Included in McElhinny’s effort was an 18-of-20 effort from the free-throw line.

Aidan Swezey and Seamus Ford were also in double figures

Brady Greco had another big game for Saegertown with 17 points.

KENNEDY CATHOLIC 54, UNION 46

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – Malik Lampkins-Rudolph scored 19 points as Kennedy Catholic earned a 54-46 win over Union (New Castle) in the Ron Galbreath Classic.

Elijah Harden added 15 points for the Golden Eagles, while Remington Hart added seven.

Mark Stanley and Matt Stanley led Union with 16 points apiece.

MCDOWELL 51, STATE COLLEGE 47, overtime

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – Luke Chamberlain scored 16 points as McDowell outlasted State College in overtime, 51-47.

McDowell led 29-21 going into the fourth quarter, but the Little Lions went on an 18-10 run to force the extra session.

Nick Grimm chipped in with 12 points for the Trojans and Tyler Grove nine.

NESHANNOCK 56, GROVE CITY 50

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – Grove City tried to rally from an early deficit against Neshannock in the Ron Galbreath Classic, but came up just short, 56-50.

The Eagles trailed 18-6 at the end of the first quarter, rallying to get within six at halftime before Neshhanock went back up 12 after three quarters.

Landon Haggart led the Eagles with 13 points, while Josh Dreves added 12.

SHARON 39, GIRARD 34

SHARON, Pa. – Sharon outscored Girard 10-3 in the fourth quarter to earn a 39-34 win.

No one scored in double figures for the Tigers, but Garrett Hoffman led a balanced effort with nine points, while Connor Porterfield netted eight.

Alex Henry had 12 points for Girard and Dylan McDonald 10.

MARS 68, HICKORY 41

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – Joey Fazzone scored 19 points for Hickory, but it was Mars that came out with a 68-41 win over the Hornets in the Ron Galbreath Classic.

Tasso Sfanos led Mars with a game-high 25 points.
