Jan. 21, 2023 Luton’s Plumbing, Heating, AC Wrestling: Ultimate Duals Shine Again; D9/10 Wrestlers Strong at Mercer Tournament

BROOKVILLE, Pa. – Host Brookville and Fort LeBoeuf both went 3-1 at the Ultimate Duals Saturday.

                        

The Raiders beat Chestnut Ridge (34-33), Burrell (31-25), and Reynolds (30-29), while dropping a 33-25 decision to Fort LeBoeuf.

The Bison also topped Burrell (35-19) and Chestnut Ridge (35-24) but dropped a decision to Reynolds (37-22).

That was Reynolds’ lone win on the day with the Raiders falling to Chestnut Ridge (36-31), Burrell (31-24) in addition to Brookville.

                              

Chestnut Ridge was 2-2 and Burrell was 1-3.

The best matches of the day were the Brookville/Chestnut Ridge showdown where the Raiders won on criteria of having seven bout wins to six after the bout ended at 33-33 and the Brookville/Reynolds contest where Brookville won by the single point after Reynolds lost a point for coach unsportsmanlike conduct.

Against Chesnut Ridge, winning by fall in the match for Brookville were Coyha Brown at 160 pounds and Gavin Hannah at 189 pounds.

Eaton Belfiore took home a 9-3 decision at 172 pounds with Bailey Miller winning a 6-3 decision at heavyweight and Brecken Cieleski taking home a 9-2 decision at 139 pounds.

The Raiders also got forfeit wins at 215 pounds (Jackson Zimmerman) and 133 pounds (Cole Householder).

                          

Chesnut Ridge got falls at 114 pounds by Eaton Mull, 121 pounds by Brock Holderbaum, and 127 pounds by Kobi Burkett as well as a 5-2 decision at 152 pounds by Samuel Albright.

The Lions took forfeit victories at 107 pounds (Dominic Deputy) and 145 pounds (Calan Bollman).

In the Reynolds match, Hannah got a pun at 215, with Miller recording one at heavyweight and Kolton Griffin getting one at 152 pounds.

Brookville also won decisions at 114 pounds (11-6 by Jared Popson) and 139 pounds (6-0) by Cieleski and took home a forfeit at 133 pounds by Householder.

Reynolds scored 18 points by forfeit with victories going to Angelo Lomonte at 107 pounds, Louie Gill at 121 pounds, and Brayden McCloskey at 189 pounds.

Decisions for Reynolds came from Greyden Gustas at 127 pounds (4-2), Tino Gentile at 145 pounds (3-1), Vito Gentile at 160 pounds (8-3), and Jalen Wagner at 172 pounds (7-1).

In the Brookville victory over Burrell, Zimmerman got a pin at 215 pounds, Burke Fleming got one at 145 pounds, and Kolton Griffin recorded one at 152 pounds.

Brown also recorded a 9-1 major decision at 160 pounds for the Raiders with Hannah (8-1 at 189 pounds), Jared Popson (2-1 at 114 pounds), and Owen Fleming (5-1 at 127 pounds) getting decisions for Brookville.

Fort LeBoeuf’s win over Brookville saw the Bison get pins from Jake Bennett at 121 pounds and Blake Glass at 133 pounds.

Decisions for Fort LeBoeuf came from Conner McChesney at 172 pounds (3-0), Ryan Welka at 215 pounds (4-3), Danny Church at heavyweight (4-0), JoJo Przybycien at 139 pounds (4-0), and Jackson Bowers at 145 pounds (7-0).

                           

Brady Bowers won by forfeit at 107 pounds for the Bison.

Brookville got pins from Zimmerman at 189 pounds and Popson at 114 pounds and technical falls from Brown at 160 pounds (16-1) and Householder at 127 pounds (22-5) while Griffin took home a 6-3 decision at 152 pounds.

In the victory over Chestnut Ridge, Fort LeBoeuf got puns from McChesney at 172 pounds, Welka at 189 pounds, and John Duran at heavyweight, major decisions from Church at 215 pounds (15-7) and Bowers at 145 pounds (11-2), and decisions from Jake Bennett at 121 pounds (3-1), Glass at 127 pounds (7-4), and Przybycien at 139 pounds.

Reynold’s win over Fort LeBoeuf featured pins from Waylon Waite at 114 pounds, Chase Bell at 133 pounds, and Vito Gentile at 160 pounds.

The Raiders also got  a major decision from Tino Gentile at 145 pounds (11-2) and decisions from Angelo Lomonte at 107 pounds (4-2), Louie DeJulia at 152 pounds (7-2), and Wagner at 172 pounds (3-1) as well as a forfeit for Gill at 121 pounds.

Przybycien had a pin at 139 pounds for Fort LeBoeuf with Church getting a fall at 215 pounds. Duran added a major decision (11-0) at heavyweight for the Bison with Welka (1-0) at 189 pounds and Bennett (5-0) at 127 pounds picking up decisions.

In its loss to Chestnut Ridge, Reynolds saw pins from Wagner at 172 pounds, Brayden McCloskey at 189 pounds, Casey Resek at heavyweight, and Vito Gentile at 160 pounds, a major decision from Gill at 114 pounds, and 4-2 sudden victory decision from Chase Bell at 133 pounds.

The loss to Burrell saw Gill get a pin at 114 pounds, major decisions from Tino Gentile at 145 pounds (14-0), DeJulia at 152 pounds (14-0), and Vito Gentile at 160 pounds (10-0) as well as decisions from Wagner at 172 pounds (9-3), and Resek at heavyweight (2-1, TB).

Reynolds’ Wagner took home the “Gilly” Award.

MERCER VFW SEES SHAPRSVILLE, CLARION, SHEFFIELD GO 1-2-3

MERCER, Pa. – Sharpsville, Clarion, and Sheffield finished 1-2-3 in the team standings at the Mercer VFW Tournament.

District 9 and 10 wrestlers claimed individual titles in 10 weight classes, including Cochranont’s Kyle Lantz at 107, Sheffield’s A.J. Barnes at 121, Sharpsville’s Alex Rueberger at 127, Cambridge Springs’ Brody Beck at 133, Cochranton’s Cash Morrell at 139, Cambridge Springs’ Gunner Gage at 145, Clarion’s Mason Gourley at 152, Sharpsville’s David Moyer at 189, Coudersport’s Gavin Ayers at 215 and Sharon’s Mike Mazurek at 285.

Sharpsville had 195 points to lead the 14-team field, while Clarion had 146 and Sheffield 128.5

CRANBERRY TAKES FIRST AT HOWLAND INVITATIONAL

HOWLAND, OHIO – Elijah Brosius (120), Conner Reszkowski (132), Dane Wenner (138), Devyn Fleeger (150), and Brayden McFetridge (190) claimed individual titles as Cranberry took first at the Howland (Ohio) Invitational.

Cranberry finished with 199 points in the 10-team field, ahead of second-place Howland (175). Franklin was sixth in the team standings with 100 points.
