Jan. 11, 2022 Wrestling: Clearfield, Clarion, Kane Pick up Wins

TYRONE, Pa. – Clearfield earned six pins, a tech fall, and a decision in a 44-24 victory over Tyrone.

                        

Evan Davis (113), Brady Collins (126), Luke Freeland (152), Carter Chamberlain (189), Hayden Kovalick (215) and Oliver Billotte (285) all won by fall and all in the first period for the Bison.

Also for the Bison, Mark McGonigbal earned a 17-1 tech fall at 172 and Adam Rougeux a 10-8 decision at 120.

KANE 37, COUDERSPORT 24

KANE, Pa. – Kane earned a pair of falls and three forfeits in a 37-24 win over Coudersport.

                              

Alex Bechakas (152) and Harley Morris (138) got pins for the Wolves, while Luke Ely got a 12-0 major decision at 160 and Shawn Nystrom a 4-0 decision at 285.

Gavin Ayers earned a pin for Coudersport at 215, with the Falcons also picking up a trio of forfeit wins.

CLARION 36, MERCER 16

MERCER, Pa. – Clarion received five forfeits in a 36-16 win over Mercer.

Caleb Edmonds (172) earned a first-period pin for Clarion, while Colin Wise (126) earned a third-period fall for Mercer. The Mustangs’ Michael Berger also earned an 11-2 major decision at 160.

                          

MOUNT UNION 51, CURWENSVILLE 24

MOUNT UNION, Pa. – Curwensville fell to a tough Mount Union squad on the road, 51-24.

The Golden Tide won four bouts, all by fall, courtesy of Nik Fegert (138), J.D. Strong (152), Logan Augenbaugh (160) and Alex Shaffer (2:55). Strong and Aughenbaugh’s pins came in the first period and Fegert and Shaffer’s in the second.
