Hickory Rallies Past Harbor Creek for Class D10 4A Boys’ Crown

HERMITAGE, Pa. – Hickory rallied from a 7-point halftime deficit, winning its third straight District 10 Class 4A championship on Friday, 39-34 over No. 2 seed Harbor Creek.

It was a physical, defensive slugfest that also featured an ejection of Harbor Creek senior Cody Smith in the third quarter. 

That came in the midst of a third-quarter surge for the Hornets. 

                                      

The top-seeded Hornets outscored the Huskies 18-10 in the third quarter to take the lead going into the fourth and were able to hold off Harbor Creek (21-3). 

Peyton Mele stepped up in a big way for the Hornets, finishing with a team-high 16 points, while  Jackson Pryts added eight and Matt Cannone seven. 

Sam Howell had 16 points in defeat for the Huskies, while Casey Smith added nine. 

The Hornets advance to play District 6 champion Greater Johnstown on Friday, March 19.
