Hickory Girls Win Meadville Invite; Villa Tennis Stays Perfect; North Clarion/C-L XC Split

MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Hickory girls golf team had a team score of 224 to capture first place at the Meadville Invitational on Tuesday at the Country Club of Meadville.

The Hornets edged North East (227) by three strokes.

Lydia Swan shot a 65 and Anna Swan a 71 for North East to lead the way.

Hickory’s McKenzie Gustas shot a 73, while teammates Luciana Masters and Sasha Petrochko shot 75 and 76, respectively.

McDowell’s Zoey McClain shot a 74 and Grove City’s Emily Donahue a 76.

            

BROOKVILLE BOYS GOLF EDGES PUNXSUTAWNEY

BROOKVILLE, Pa. – Brookville topped Punxsutawney 192-192 in boys’ golf action.

Killian Radel led Brookville with a 44, while Jimmy Neese shot a 45 for the Chucks.

Also for Brookville, Bryce Rafferty shot a 45, Owen Caylor 50, Ian Pete 53, Burke Fleming 54 and Logan Girt 57.

For Punxsy, Kyle Nesbit shot a 47 and Donnie Neese and Jake Sikora each shot 53.

VILLA STAYS PERFECT

ERIE, Pa. – Villa beat Conneaut 5-0 to improve to 12-0 on the season.

In singles action, Anna Poranski defeated Madeline Marie (6-0, 6-0), while Annie Prichard topped Lizzy Young (6-0, 6-0) and Oliva Huntchinson was a 6-1, 6-1 winner over Karlie Mickle.

The doubles team of Villa’s Grace Teed and Lilli Beuchart was a 6-1, 6-0 winner Heidi Mayor and Sam Wright, while Ryli Hermann and Malaia Olley defeated Paige Brainard and Marla Mayor, 6-1, 6-1.

NORTH CLARION, C-L SPLIT

FRILLS CORNERS, Pa. – North Clarion’s boys earned a 21-34 win over C-L, while the C-L girls were a 26-29 victor.

In the boys’ race, North Clarion’s Kaine McFarland edged C-L’s Logan Lutz 18:34.8 to 18:57.0.

In the girls’ race, C-L’s Morgan McNaughton was first with a time of 20:37.8, followed by North Clarion’s Brynn Siegel (21:35.3).
