Heller Fires 1-Hitter to Lead O-E Over Ike; Moniteau Wins Marathon Over J-Burg as Zimmerman Gets 100th Career K

DUKE CENTER, Pa. – Bri Heller tossed a one-hitter while striking out nine to lead Otto-Eldred to a 9-1 win over visiting Eisenhower.

Heller walked two and hit a batter in seven innings while also helping out at the plate by going 1-for-3 with two RBIs.

Kate Rhinehart went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs while Carrie Drummond had an RBI double and Kayla Andreano had a double.

Kailee Morrison broke up Heller’s no-hit bid with an RBI single in the seventh. Payton Frank scored on the play for Eisenhower’s lone run.

Emilie Jones took the loss for Eisenhower going six innings allowing nine runs, six earned, on eight hits and five walks while striking out seven.

   

                  

BASEBALL

MONITEAU 5, JOHNSONBURG 4, 13 INNINGS; JOHNSONBURG 3, MONITEAU 0

WEST SUNBURY, Pa. – James Gillen’s RBI single in the top of the 13th lifted Moniteau to a 5-4 win over Johnsonburg in the continuation of a game started on March 22.

The game was tied at 2-2 after seven innings, and both teams plated a pair in the eighth. Neither team scored again until Gillen’s RBI in the 13th.

Landon Kelly hit a 1-out single, then advanced to third on an error. Gillen followed with a single to bring in Kelly for the game-winning run.

                          

Moniteau was trailing, 2-1, after six innings. Brock Matthews hit a 1-out single, then came home on Keagen Book’s RBI double to tie it at 2-2.

A walk, a hit batter, and a single loaded the bases for the Warriors in the eighth. Ian Ross hit an RBI groundout to give Moniteau a 3-2 lead, and Matthews followed with a sac fly to push the advantage to 4-2.

Aiden Zimmerman hit a leadoff single to start the Rams’ eighth, then stole second. He came home on Luke Zimmerman’s single to left. Luke Zimmerman came home on Erik Panebianco’s 2-out single to tie it at 4-4.

Moniteau loaded the bases in the 10th, but Cameron Larkin got Derrik Creedon-Moyer to ground out to end the threat.

               

Luke Zimmerman had three hits, scored twice, and drove in a run. Panebianco had a pair of hits and an RBI.

Luke Zimmerman allowed one earned run on four hits with four walks and eight strikeouts, including the 100th of his career, in 6 ⅔ innings. Aiden Zimmerman allowed two unearned runs on four hits with four walks and a strikeout in 3 ⅓ innings.

Book had three hits, including a double, and drove in a pair. Dawson Cook and Kelly each had two hits, and Kelly scored twice.

Matthews got the win by throwing three shutout innings. He allowed one hit, walked three, and struck out four.

GAME 2

WEST SUNBURY, Pa. – Aiden Zimmerman threw a complete-game shutout and doubled in a run to lead Johnsonburg to a 3-0 win at Moniteau.

Aiden Zimmerman scattered four hits over his seven innings. He didn’t walk or hit a batter and struck out seven. He was also 2-4 at the plate with a double, a run scored, and an RBI.

Larkin tripled in the first run of the game in the second. Kaden Dennis also had an RBI for the Rams.

Cook had two of Moniteau’s four hits. He also threw four shutout innings of relief, allowing just two hits with no walks, a hit batter, and five strikeouts.

Matthews took the loss allowing three earned runs on two hits with two walks and a strikeout in two innings.

            

DUBOIS CENTRAL CATHOLIC 3, REDBANK VALLEY 1

DuBOIS, Pa. – Redbank Valley brought the winning run to the plate in the bottom of the seventh, but Aiden Snowberger got a strikeout and groundout to preserve DuBois Central Catholic’s 3-1 win.

The Cardinals scored all three of their runs in the fourth. A pair of singles had Bulldogs on first and second, but Snowberger struck out Tate Minich and got Breekin Minich to ground out to end the game.

Brayden Fox walked and Blake Pisarcik was hit by a pitch to start the DCC fourth. One out later, Ben Gritzer roped a double into center that allowed both Fox and Pisarcik to score. Carter Himes doubled in courtesy runner Johnny Varischetti with two outs for the final run.

Tate Minich hit a solo home run in the third for Redbank Valley’s run.

Jaxon Huffman took the loss allowing three earned runs on three hits with three walks and three strikeouts in 3 ⅔ innings. Braylon Wagner pitched 2 ⅓ scoreless innings. He allowed one hit, walked one, and struck out two.

Himes picked up the win allowing one earned run on one hit with two walks and a strikeout in four innings. Snowberger threw three scoreless innings in relief. He allowed three hits, didn’t walk a batter, and struck out three.

WILLIAMSON 10, NORTHERN POTTER 0, 5 INNINGS

TIOGA, Pa. – Erik Berkan threw a perfect game as Williamson defeated Northern Potter, 10-0, in five innings.

In addition to not allowing a baserunner, Berkan struck out 13 of the 15 batters he faced.

Connor Monroe had a pair of hits and scored twice, and Christian Ling had three RBIs in the win.

WELLSBORO 14, COUDERSPORT 4, 5 INNINGS

WELLSBORO, Pa. – Ryder Bowen and Blake Hamblin both drove in three runs to lead Wellsboro to a 14-4, five-inning home win over Coudersport.

Bowen was 2-for-4 while Hamblin drove in three without a hit.

Conner Adams and Caden Smith each scored three times for the Hornets with Adams going 1-for-1 with a double and two walks and Smith going 1-for-3 with a walk.

Mason Roessner was 1-for-2 with a double, a walk, and three RBIs for Coudersport, while Jacob Hooftallen went 1-for-3 with a run scored and Gavyn Ayers scored a run while walking three times. Viggo Brown also scored a run and drove in a run while walking once.

Cameron Brought got the win going four innings allowing four unearned runs on two hits and six walks while striking out six.

Ayers took the loss going 2 ⅓ innings allowing five earned runs on three hits, two walks, and three hit batters. He struck out one. Mitch Taylor was charged with nine runs, two earned, on four hits and five walks in 2 ⅓ innings.
