The Huskies (15-9) led by just four at the end of the first quarter, 11-7, but held the Eagles to a single field goal in the second (a Hannah Reiber 3-pointer).

Both teams had opportunities to either break the game open or climb back in it, but neither was able to consistently finish at the rim to take advantage of the opportunity.

Reiber led Grove City (15-10) with 10 points.

Samantha Zank had a game-high 17 points for the Huskies while Elise Benim added 13.

Harbor Creek advances to the PIAA state tournament where the Huskies will face Chartiers Valley (who was upset in the WPIAL championship by South Fayette) on Wednesday at a site and time to be determined.

CLASS 3A THIRD-PLACE

(3) MERCYHURST PREP 38, (1) FAIRVIEW 29

ERIE, Pa. – Mercyhurst Prep went on a 13-5 fourth-quarter run to punch the final ticket to the PIAA playoffs in 3A with a 38-29 win over Fairview.

The Lakers (17-8) avenged a pair of regular-season losses to the Tigers in the process.

It was a tough end to the season for Fairview (23-2), which went 22-0 in the regular season.

Joce Ollinger led Mercyhurst Prep with 12 points, while Lillirose Lang added nine and Anna Tranum seven.

Hope Garrity finished the final game of her terrific season with 12 points, while Bre Heidt added eight and Sara Gennuso seven.

Mercyhurst Prep will take on D-6 runner-up Forest Hills in the first round of the PIAA playoffs on Tuesday.

CLASS 2A THIRD-PLACE

(3) CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS 38, (4) COCHRANTON 21

MEADVILLE, Pa. – In an afternoon where offense was at a premium, Hailee Rodgers provided all her team needed as Cambridge Springs topped Cochranton, 38-21, in their District 10 Class 2A consolation game.

Rodgers finished with 25 points, 21 of which came by way of 3-pointers, and for three quarters was essentially the entirety of the Blue Devils’ offense. Cambridge Springs held a 22-16 lead at the end of the third quarter and Rodgers was responsible for 20 of those points.

As a team, the Blue Devils (18-6) shot just 25 percent from the field (12-48) and didn’t get a field goal from anyone but Rodgers until Madison Yanc hit a layup with just under six minutes to play in the fourth quarter.

Cochranton (13-12) was unable to take advantage of the Blue Devils’ shooting woes in part because the Cambridge Springs defense forced a number of turnovers and in part because the Cardinals shot just 17 percent from the field (5-29).

The teams were tied, 6-6, after one and knotted at 12-12 at the half. Cambridge Springs outscored Cochranton, 10-4, in the third quarter to take a 22-16 lead into the fourth. The Blue Devils held the Cardinals to just one field goal in the second half.

Jaylin McGill led the Cardinals with eight points.

Yanc finished with 10 points, eight in the fourth quarter, and eight rebounds.

The Blue Devils will face District 9 champion Brockway in the first round of the PIAA state playoffs on Tuesday at a site and time to be determined.
