Frame, Blum Earn MVP Honors at Clarion County YMCA Senior All-Star Games

CLARION, Pa. – Coudersport’s Liz Frame and Warren’s J.T. Blum earned MVP honors at the second annual Clarion County YMCA Senior All-Star Basketball games Sunday at the Clarion County YMCA.

Frame earned MVP honors in the girls’ game after scoring a game-high 22 points for Team Buttery in a 79-64 win over Team Ruhlman.

Blum garnered MVP honors in the boys’ game after scoring 17 points for Team Ruhlman in a 100-86 win over Team Srock.

GIRLS: Team Buttery 79, Team Ruhlman 64

After a slow start that saw Team Ruhlman leading 14-12 at the end of the first quarter, Team Buttery took a 37-34 halftime lead in the girls’ game on the strength of eight second-quarter points from Union’s Dominika Logue, seven from Frame, who scored 12 in the first half, and six from Brookville Alayna Haight.

                                      

Team Buttery pushed to advantage out to six points, 55-49 by the end of the third quarter seven different players scoring paced by four more points from Frame.

Frame then hit a pair of fourth-quarter 3-pointers and Logue added seven more points to close out the win.

Logue added 17 points in the victory with team captain Selena Buttery of Brockway chipping in 11 and Haight nine.

Team Ruhlman was paced by 18 points from team captain Emma Ruhlman with Camdon Bashor of Franklin adding nine points and Riley Childress of Warren eight.

BOYS: Team Ruhlman 100, Team Srock 86

After building a 22-point, 61-39, halftime lead, Team Ruhlman had to rally from behind to top Team Srock, 100-86, in the boys’ game.

Down big at the break, Team Srock started the second half on a 29-6 run to take a 68-67 lead on a Dan Park (Ridgway) bucket with just over 1:20 to play in the third quarter.

But Team Ruhlman answered with a Judias Johnson (Oil City) basket at the other end to start a third-quarter ending 7-0 run that was capped by a Blum 3-pointer with just over 15 seconds to play to put Team Ruhlman ahead 74-68 going to the fourth quarter.

A Bryson Bain (Redbank Valley) jumper early in the fourth quarter pushed the lead to eight, 76-68,

The lead shrunk to three a couple of times in the fourth quarter with the latest being 86-83 following a 3-pointer by Alex Ognen (Smethport) with 3:45 to go before Team Ruhlman ended the game on a 14-3 run with Blum starting the spurt with a banked-home 3-pointer.

Blum was one of five players in double digits for Team Ruhlman with Luke Jansen (Elk County Catholic) adding 14 points, Charlie Breindel (ECC) 13 points, Ryan Gearhart (Clearfield) 12 points, and Johnson 10 points.

                                   

Easton Fulmer (Franklin) had a game-high 23 points for Team Srock while draining five 3-pointers.

Also for Team Srock, Marquese Gardlock (Redbank Valley) added 12 points, Alex Srock (DuBois Central Catholic) had 11, and Domenic Allegretto (Ridgway) 10.
