Ferguson Helps C-L Boys Rally Past Clarion in Fourth Quarter; Otto-Eldred Grabs Another Win

STRATTANVILLE, Pa. – Using a 9-0 run at the end of the third quarter into the fourth quarter, Clarion-Limestone swept the season series from rival Clarion with a 50-42 home win.

The Lions, who led by eight at halftime, trailed by four, 31-27, late in the third quarter before using the 9-0 spurt to retake the lead for good.

                                      

That run helped C-L outscore Clarion 20-11 in the fourth quarter with Jase Ferguson leading the way with seven of his game-high 16 points.

Ferguson also added four steals, three rebounds, and an assist and was named the Allegheny Grille of Foxburg Player of the Game,

C-L lead 25-17 at halftime thanks in part to three 3-pointers in the opening half by Ferguson as well as seven points from Rylie Klingensmith.

                          

But behind some hot outside shooting from Dawson Smail in the third quarter, Clarion roared back to take the lead.

Dawson Smail knocked down a pair of third-quarter 3-pointers and scored six of his 12 points in the quarter.

C-L failed to score a basket in the third quarter until a late Jordan Hesdon 3-pointer helped the Lions get within one, 31-30, going to the fourth quarter.

Hesdon added 14 points for C-L with Klingensmith scoring nine and Tommy Smith seven. Heson added six rebounds, three assists, and two steals, while Smith had a team-best seven boards while dishing out two assists and coming away with two steals.

Gabe Simko paced Clarion with 13 points, including six in the fourth quarter.

Devon Lauer added eight points for Clarion with Bryce Brinkley scoring six.

OTTO-ELDRED 66, COUDERSPORT 43

DUKE CENTER, Pa. – Brax Caldwell had 17 points and 13 rebounds to help Otto-Eldred to a 66-43 home NTL win over Coudersport.

Shene Thomas added 15 points for the Terrors with Austin Cousins adding 12 on four 3-pointers. Landon Francis contributed 10 points and Manning Splain nine in the victory.

Reilly Streich led Coudersport with 11 points and eight rebounds with Mason Roessner chipping in nine points, Micah Batson eight points and four steals, and James Culvey seven points.

                                   

JUNIATA VALLEY 75, CURWENSVILLE 56

ALEXANDRIA, Pa. – Chris Deihl had a game-high 22 points to help Juniata Valley to a 75-56 home ICC North win over Curwensville.

Charley Mattis added 19 points for the Hornets with Reid Edwards adding 13 points and Conner Robinson 10 points.

Parker Wood led Curwensville with 16 points with Chandler English adding 15 points and Davis Fleming contributing 10.

BELLEFONTE 62, CLEARFIELD 49

HYDE, Pa. – Visiting Bellefonte outscored Clearfield 14-3 in the third quarter to turn a four-point halftime lead into a 62-49 Mountain League win.

The Red Raiders led 26-22 at the break and then held Clearfield to one made basket in the third quarter.

The Bison tried to rally in the fourth quarter behind Cole Miller, who scored 14 of his game-high 20 points but it wasn’t nearly enough.

Jacob McConnell led Bellefonte with 16 points Derek Cox and Jacob Corman each scored 12.

Miller added six rebounds for Clearfield with Braison Patrick chipping in 11 points.

CHRISTIAN LIFE ACADEMY 43, VENANGO CATHOLIC 40

OIL CITY, Pa. – Henry Kolesar scored 14 points to help Christian Life Academy pick up a 43-40 win at Venango Catholic.

Daniel Sorensen added nine points with Noah Sanoski chipping in eight in the win.

James Henry had a game-high 24 points for Venango Catholic.
