Feb. 8, 2022 D10 Hoops: Walker, Cochranton Top Iroquois; Fairview, Saegertown Notch Big Region Wins

LAWRENCE PARK, Pa. – Jaiben Walker led four Cochranton players in double figures with 23 points as Cochranton powered past Iroquois, 61-42.

Walker went 10-of-13 from the free-throw line in the win, as Cochranton broked open a nine-point game going into the fourth quarter

Wyatt Barzak added 13 points for the Cardinals, while Chase Miller had 11 and Landon Homa 10.

Logan Briggs had 17 points to pace Iroquois.

FAIRVIEW 49, WARREN 37

                                      

FAIRVIEW, Pa. – Logan Frazao poured in 21 points as Fairview maintained control of first place in Region 5 with a 49-37 win over Warren.

The win gives the Tigers a regular-season series sweep of the Dragons.

The game was tied 20-20 at halftime, but Fairview outscored Warren 29-17 in the second half.

Tyler Shultz added nine points and Zack Scott seven for the Tigers. Fairview finished the game on a 10-0 run.

Parks Ordiway, Braylon Barnes, and Brady Berdine scored eight points apiece for the Dragons, with all of Berdine’s points coming in the second half.

                          

FRANKLIN 68, SLIPPERY ROCK 35

FRANKLIN, Pa. – Franklin continued its roll through Region 4 as Easton Fulmer scored 26 points in a 68-35 win over Slippery Rock.

Fulmer scored 20 of his 26 points in the first half. Damon Curry had 13 points for the Knights and Luke Guth 10.

John Sabo had 12 points to lead Slippery Rock.

EISENHOWER 61, YOUNGSVILLE 49

RUSSELL, Pa. – Wyatt Lookenhouse and Curt Darling combined for 37 points as Eisenhower picked up a 61-49 Region 2 win over Youngsville.

Lookenhouse finished with 21 points and Darling 16 for the Knights, who have won seven of eight. The Knights broke open a tight game in the first half with a 14-0 run.

Kael Hunt added eight points and Jake Venman seven for Eisenhower.

Koby Hendrickson scored 11 of his team-high 15 points in the fourth quarter for Youngsville, while Keegan Mesel added nine.

SHARPSVILLE 67, GREENVILLE 54

SHARPSVILLE, Pa. – Sharpsville outscored Greenville 41-26 in the second half en route to a 67-54 Region 4 victory.

Mack Staunch scored 12 of his 21 points in the second half for Sharpsville, one of three Blue Devils in double figures.

James Thomas scored eight of his 17 points in the fourth quarter to Sharpsville to help put the game away, while Liam Campbell added 13.

Jalen Ritzert matched Staunch’s 21 points to lead Greenville, while Noah Philson netted 10.

SAEGERTOWN 64, UNION CITY 56

SAEGERTOWN, Pa. – Henry Shaffer led four Saegertown players in double figures with 25 points as they stayed atop the Region 2 standings with a 65-56 win over Union City.

The Panthers led 32-21 at halftime en route to the win.

Brady Greco tallied 14 points for the Panthers, while Isaac Johnson and Jaden Wilkins had 11 each.

Matt Bennett and Wyatt Post scored 14 points apiece for Union City, while Bryce Drayer added 12.

OIL CITY 70, TITUSVILLE 32

OIL CITY, Pa. – Ethen Knox led four players in double figures with 16 points as Oil City netted a 70-32 Region 5 win over Titusville.

The Oilers, who led 36-14 at halftime, also got 12 points from Sayyid Donald and 10 each from Cam VanWormer and Will McMahon.

Andrew Wheeling led Titusville with 13 points.

                                  

CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS 60, MAPLEWOOD 37

GUYS MILLS, Pa. – Nathan Held scored 21 points as Cambridge Springs earned a 60-37 win over Maplewood.

The Blue Devils, who also got 13 points from Josh Reisenauer and 12 from Parker Schmidt, closed the game on a 16-2 run.

Noah Burk poured in 20 points for Maplewood.

CORRY 59, FORT LEBOEUF 46

WATERFORD, Pa. – Logan Joncas scored 30 points as Corry earned a 59-46 Region 5 win over Fort LeBoeuf.

Joncas drained four triples and was a perfect 10-of-10 from the free-throw line in the win.

The Beavers went on a 23-6 run in the second quarter to take control, as Nick Brundage also tallied 16 points.

Dom Gentile had 16 points for Fort LeBouef and Dom Russo 15.

HARBOR CREEK 62, CONNEAUT (Pa.) 33</strong

HARBORCREEK, Pa. – Jaden Rocco scored 21 points as Harbor Creek stayed hot with a 62-33 win over Conneaut.

Nick Krahe and Gavin Ennis were also in double figures for the Huskies with 14 and 10 points respectively.

Alex Nottingham had 12 points to pace Conneaut.

JAMESTOWN 58, LAKEVIEW 53

STONEBORO, Pa. – Cam Keyser and Cole Ternent had 16 points apiece as Jamestown rallied past Lakeview, 58-53.

The Muskies, who trailed by as many as nine, also got 12 points from Aidan Swezey.

Lane Smith had 24 points and Cam Pence 20 for Lakeivew.

ERIE 68, GENERAL MCLANE 53

ERIE, Pa. – Erie outscored General McLane 39-22 in the second half en route to a 68-63 win over GM.

Shaquawn Horton had 17 points to lead four Erie players in double figures, while Layveon Gore added 12, Kre Thompson 11, and Andreas McCullum 10.

Jeremiah Schreiber had 17 points and Danny Bruce 14 for GM.

MCDOWELL 54, MEADVILLE 39

MEADVILLE, Pa. – Luke Chamberlain scored 13 points and Tyler Grove 12 as McDowell earned a 54-39 Region 6 win over Meadville.

Khalon Simmons had another strong game for the Bulldogs in defeat, tallying 17 points.

ROCKY GROVE 55, WEST MIDDLESEX 53

WEST MIDDLESEX, Pa. – Isaac Clayton scored 19 points as Rocky Grove held off West Middlesex, 55-53.

D’Andre Whitman added 12 points for RG in the win and Quinn Ritchey 11.

Richie Preston scored a game-high 21 points for the Big Reds.

NORTHWESTERN 51, ERIE FIRST CHRISTIAN 42

ALBION, Pa. – Ryan Tewell scored 18 points as Northwestern beat Erie First Christian, 51-42.

Levi Hill added eight points for the Wildcats.

Jesse Jong had 16 points and Sam Gonzalez 11 for EFC.

FARRELL 73, MERCER 53

MERCER, Pa. – Kabron Smith scored 17 points and Omar Stewart 16 as Farrell topped Mercer in Region 1 action, 73-53.

Logan Turton had 16 points to lead Mercer.

SHARON 66, WILMINGTON 38

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – Connor Porterfield and Garrett Hoffman scored 17 points apiece as Sharon earned a 66-38 win over Wilmington.

Colin Hill had 16 points to lead Wilmington.

KENNEDY CATHOLIC 59, HARBOR CREEK 19

HERMITAGE, Pa. – Paris Gilmore led three Kennedy Catholic players in double figures with 14 points as the Golden Eagles earned a 59-19 win over Harbor Creek.

Hayden Keith netted 12 points and Bellah DiNardo 10 for KC.

Samanta Zank had five points for Harbor Creek.

JAMESTOWN 50, COMMODORE PERRY 25

HADLEY, Pa. – Stacie Weimert scored 22 points as Jamestown earned a 50-25 Region 1 win over Commodore Perry.

Halle Boozer had 10 points to lead Commodore Perry.
