Feb. 7, 2022 D10 Hoops: Three’s Company – Fairview’s Garrity, Maplewood’s Eimer, Lakeview’s Gadsby All Reach 1,000 Points in Wins

GIRARD, Pa. – Hope Garrity became the first player in program history to score 1,000 career points as Fairview earned a 62-22 win over Girard.

Garrity, a junior, achieved the milestone with a three in the first quarter, one of six she made in the game. Not only did Garrity make history, but in the process, the Lady Tigers improved to 19-0 with the win, the lone unbeaten team in District 10.

It was a complete effort from start to finish from Fairview, which led 34-16 at halftime and 55-17 after three quarters.

Caroline Zentis added nine points and Brenna Cronin eight for the Lady Tigers.

Peyton Kalicky led Girard with nine points.

                                      

MAPLEWOOD 60, COCHRANTON 29

GUYS MILLS, Pa. – Maplewood senior Izzy Eimer scored 21 points, surpassing the 1,000-point milestone in the process as Maplewood earned a big 60-29 Region 2 win over Cochranton.

Eimer knocked down eight two-point field goals and one three to go along with four free throws on her way to the milestone.

Maplewood wasted little time taking control of the game, putting up 22 points in the first quarter and leading 39-15 at halftime.

                          

Sadie Thomas and Liliane Moorhead were also in double figures for the Lady Tigers with 16 and 10 points, respectively.

Carly Richter led Cochranton with eight points.

LAKEVIEW 62, TITUSVILLE 26

STONEBORO, Pa. – Needing 28 points to reach 1,000 for her career, Lakeview’s Reese Gadsby scored 30 as the Sailors earned a 62-26 win over Titusville.

Gadsby scored 24 of her 30 points in the first half (including 14 in the first quarter) and got to 1,000 on a layup in the third quarter, becoming the sixth player in program history to reach the milestone.

Kyndra Seddon and Emma Marsteller scored seven points apiece for the Sailors.

Rylie McGarvie led Titusville with eight points.

CONNEAUT (Pa.) 33, SLIPPERY ROCK 27

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Jaelyn Blood had 15 points and seven rebounds as Conneaut picked up a big 33-27 Region 5 win over Slippery Rock.

                                   

The Eagles led 13-7 at halftime en route to the win.

Rylee Jones and Jocelyn Denihan each had seven points for the Eagles, with Jones also tallying five assists, four steals, and four rebounds, and Denihan four rebounds and three steals.

Bronwyn McCoy finished with eight points and Audrey Kura seven for Slippery Rock.

WARREN 43, CORRY 19

WARREN, Pa. – Warren outscored Corry 39-14 over the final three quarters on its way to a 43-19 Region 6 win.

Emma Ruhlman poured in a game-high 20 points for Warren, 13 of which came in the second half.

Riley Childress tallied nine points for the Lady Dragons and Gracie Ruhlman eight.

Emma Ruhlman also had 11 rebounds and Childress six assists.

Skylar Riedel led Corry with seven points.

CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS 56, SAEGERTOWN 30

SAEGERTOWN, Pa. – Makenzie Yanc nearly had a triple-double with 21 points, 12 steals, and eight rebounds as Cambridge Springs earned a 56-30 Region 2 win over Saegertown.

Madison Yanc had 12 points and 10 rebounds and Finley Rausher had 11 points and dished out six assists for the Blue Devils.

Averie Braymer had nine points to lead Saegertown.

GROVE CITY 46, MEADVILLE 26

MEADVILLE, Pa. – Grove City outscored Meadville 22-4 in the third quarter en route to a 46-26 Region 5 win.

                                  

Delaney Callahan scored 14 points to lead the way for Grove City. Piper Como and Emma Santom had eight points apiece, while Como and Hannah Reiber dished out four assists, with Izzie Gamble pulling down eight rebounds.

Marlaya McCoy had eight points to lead Meadville.

SHARPSVILLE 52, WILMINGTON 37

SHARPSVILLE, Pa. – Alli Davis led four Sharpsville players in double figures with 14 points as Sharpsville earned a 52-37 win over Wilmington.

Davis had eight steals to go along with her 14 points, while Chasie Fry had 11 points and six rebounds, Ady Kratko 10 points, and five assists, and Breanna Hanley 10 points and 11 rebounds as the Blue Devils swept the season series.

Lia Krarup led Wilmington with 14 points.

EISENHOWER 49, YOUNGSVILLE 44

RUSSELL, Pa. – A 15-0 first-quarter run helped Eisenhower jump out to an 18-4 lead and the Knights held off rival Youngsville for a 49-44 win.

During that first-quarter run, the Knights held the Eagles scoreless for 6:30.

Youngsville was able to cut the deficit to four, 48-44, late in the fourth quarter, but was unable to close the gap further.

Kenzie Olewine had a game-high 22 points for Youngsville. Mia Rafalski had nine and Zaylee Cressley chipped in five.

Bella Marino led the Knights with 20 points. Tracey Jakubczak, playing in just her second game back from injury, had 12 points. Mackenzie Dunn had eight and Lily Smyth seven.

WEST MIDDLESEX 53, JAMESTOWN 10

JAMESTOWN, Pa. – Emily Anthony and Emma Mild scored 10 points apiece as West Middlesex topped Jamestown, 53-10.

Anthony had five steals and five assists, while Carlie Beatty had nine points, eight rebounds and five steals for the Big Reds. Caitlin Stephens added eight points and 10 boards as well.

FRANKLIN 46, OIL CITY 17

OIL CITY, Pa. – Camdon Bashor scored 21 points and pulled down 11 rebounds as Franklin earned a 46-17 win in the Route 8 rivalry over Oil City.

Lauren Billingsley chipped in with eight points and six rebounds for the Lady Knights, who led 16-0 after the first quarter.

Maddy Marczak had six points for Oil City.

GREENVILLE 53, SHARON 22

GREENVILLE, Pa. – Grace Cano and Josie Lewis combined for 39 points as Greenville earned a 53-22 win over Sharon.

Cano poured in 21 points in the win, while Lewis added 18 and Anna Harpst 11 for the Trojans.

Diavonna Nixon led Sharon with seven points.

VILLA MARIA 54, ERIE 22

ERIE, Pa. – Coming off a big win over Kennedy Catholic on Sunday, Villa stayed unbeaten in Region 6 play with a 54-22 win over Erie.

Daniela Shaughnessy led the way with 16 points, while Carissa Dunham added 12 for the Victors and Jayden McBride nine.

MERCYHURST PREP 44, NORTH EAST 28

ERIE, Pa.- Olivia Kulyk and Anna Tranum scored 19 points each as Mercyhurst Prep powered to a 44-28 win over North East.

The Lakers led 27-6 at halftime.

Alex Cozzens had 14 points for North East.

MCDOWELL 58, GENERAL MCLANE 39

ERIE, Pa. – McDowell got a balanced effort as Caylen Spano and Ella Gebhardt scored 11 points each in a 58-39 Region 6 win over General McLane.

Amaiya Nelson added nine points for the Trojans.

McDowell overcame a big game from GM’s Louisa Opp, who connected on a game-high 22 points.

REYNOLDS 48, ROCKY GROVE 40

TRANSFER, Pa. – Lawrynn Harrold scored 18 points as Reynolds topped Rocky Grove, 48-40.

Halle Murcko tallied 13 points for the Lady Raiders in the win.

Anna Williams led Rocky Grove with 17 points.

MERCER 41, COMMODORE PERRY 15

MERCER, Pa. – Julia Balaski poured in 21 points as Mercer earned a 41-15 win over Commodore Perry.

Hailey Boozer had nine points to pace CP.

SENECA 50, UNION CITY 35

WATTSBURG, Pa. – Julia Patterson scored 11 points as Seneca beat Union City, 50-35.

Lauren Konkol added 10 points for Seneca.

Jessica Messenger paced Union City with 11 points.

JAMESTOWN 63, COMMODORE PERRY 38

HADLEY, Pa. – Cam Keyser poured in 22 points as Jamestown earned a 63-38 win over Commodore Perry in the lone boys’ game of the night in District 10.

Aidan Swezey added 14 points and Peyton McElhinny 10 for the Muskies, who led 31-15 at halftime.

Kyle Stringert paced Commodore Perry with 12 points.
