OSWAYO VALLEY 71, ARCHBISHOP WALSH 69

OLEAN, N.Y. – Mike Mertsock’s layup at the buzzer in double overtime lift Oswayo Valley to a 71-69 win at Archbishop Walsh (N.Y.).

The teams were tied at 51 at the end of regulation and at 59 at the end of the first overtime.

Mertsock then scored five of his 12 points in the second overtime to help the Green Wave to the victory.

                                      

Cayden Black led Oswayo Valley with 32 points including 15 in the fourth quarter to help the Green Wave rally from a 36-32 deficit going to the quarter.

In fact, 27 of Black’s 32 points came in the fourth quarter and the two overtime periods.

Ian Bilski added 18 points in the win for Oswayo Valley.

Luca Quinn and Russell Maine each scored 26 points for Walsh. All 26 of Maine’s points came after halftime, including 18 from the fourth quarter on.

PUNXSUTAWNEY 60, ST. MARYS 56

                          

PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. – Ryen Heigley scored 12 of his 17 points in the fourth quarter, as Punxsutawney rallied from an 11-point deficit going to the fourth quarter to stun visiting St. Marys, 60-56.

The Chucks trailed 46-35 going to the fourth quarter but rode Heigley and Gabe Kengersky to the comeback.

Kengersky scored all nine of his points in the final eight minutes while going 6 of 6 from the free-throw line. Kengersky chipped in nine assists and eight rebounds.

Noah Weaver chipped in 11 points for Punxsutawney with Donnie Neese also scored nine points and Kyle Nesbitt contributed eight points.

Quin Gavazzi hit six 3-pointers and scored a career-high 28 points for St. Marys, while Anthony Nedzinski chipped in 10 points and Zack Thorwart nine points.

ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 51, SHEFFIELD 31

ST. MARYS, Pa. – Jordan Wasko and Charlie Breindel combined to score 30 points to help Elk County Catholic to a 51-31 AML North win over visiting Sheffield.

Both Wasko and Breindel scored 15 points for the Crusaders with Michael Jacobs chipping in eight points.

Tony Richard paced Sheffield with 13 points.

KEYSTONE 47, MONITEAU 38

                                   

WEST SUNBURY, Pa. – Bret Wingard scored 21 of his game-high 27 points in the second half to help Keystone beat Moniteau, 47-38.

Tyler Albright added 12 points and five assists for the Panthers who also got six points an 10 rebounds from Cole Henry.

Kyle Pry and Colton Thomas each scored 10 points for Moniteau.

RIDGWAY 49, CLARION-LIMESTONE 36

STRATTANVILLE, Pa. – Domenic Allegretto and Dan Park scored 15 of their combined 34 points in the fourth quarter to help Ridgway break a tie going to the quarter and get a 49-36 win at Clarion-Limestone.

The contest was knotted a 28 after 24 minutes before Allegretto scored nine of his 16 points in the fourth quarter and Park added six of his 18 to help the Elkers come away with the win.

Aaron Sorg chipped in seven points for Ridgway.

Rylie Klingensmith led C-L with eight points with Jase Ferguson adding seven.

KARNS CITY 50, CRANBERRY 26

KARNS CITY, Pa. – Micah Rupp knocked down nine shots on his way to a game-high 18 points in a 50-26 home win for Karns City over Cranberry.

Luke Garing and Luke Cramer each added eight points for the Gremlins.

Noah Weaver led Cranberry with eight points.

UNION 58, CLARION 46

RIMERSBURG, Pa. – Using a 15-4 run out of halftime, Union beat visiting Clarion, 58-46, to take sole possession of first place in the KSAC Small School Division.

The Golden Knights (10-6 overall, 6-1 KSAC Small) and Clarion (10-8, 5-2) were tied at 25 at halftime before Union broke things open at the start of the second half.

                                  

Caden Rainey (6 points) and Zander Laughlin (5 points) led a 19-point third-quarter effort for Union.

Payton Johnston led by the Golden Knights with 19 points and four rebounds while Rainey added 16 points, six rebounds, and three assists. Skyler Roxbury chipped in 13 points, and Dawson Camper had 14 rebounds to go with four points.

Christian Simko led Clarion with 18 points with Dawson Smail adding 17.

GALETON 52, NORTHERN POTTER 50

ULYSSES, Pa. – Zach Pagano scored 19 points to help Galeton edge homestanding Northern Potter, 52-50, in NTL action.

Ayden Whipple scored 11 of his 13 points in the first quarter for the Tigers in the win.

Tanyon Brown led Northern Potter with 23 points with Wyatt Kibbe scoring nine.

DUBOIS CENTRAL CATHOLIC 65, NORTH CLARION 53

FRILLS CORNERS, Pa. – In a game it led by as many as 26, visiting DuBois Central Catholic knocked off North Clarion, 65-53.

Alec Srock had a monster game for the Cardinals with a season-high 28 points to go with 12 rebounds.

Luke Swisher added 11 points and eight boards for DCC.

Aiden Hartle led North Clarion with 19 points with Collin Schmader adding 17.
