BOYS

UNION CITY 66, MAPLEWOOD 61

GUYS MILLS, Pa. – Matthew Bennett poured in 27 points as Union City outlasted Maplewood in a Region 2 battle, 66-61. 

                                      

Union City outscored the Tigers 16-10 in the fourth quarter en route to the win. 

Bennett scored 20 of his 27 points in the second half, while Cole DeSimone and Wyatt Post netted 12 points each for the Bears. 

They overcame a huge game from Maplewood’s Luke Sleeman, who connected for a game-high 30 points, 20 of which came in the first half. 

Kaleb Donor added 12 points for the Tigers. 

WARREN 49, SENECA 39

                          

WATTSBURG, Pa. – Ben Berdine scored 20 points as Warren won its seventh consecutive game, 49-39 over Seneca. 

Warren led  26-24  halftime and extended the lead to as many as 12 in the second half. 

Payton Barnes scored 13 points for the Dragons, while Parks Ordiway added seven points, Berdine six rebounds and Tommy Nyquist six assists. 

Logan Kibbe had a big game for the Bobcats, scoring 17 points, including three 3’s in the second half. 

SHEFFIELD 61, IROQUOIS 54

SHEFFIELD, Pa. – Behind a season-high 37 points and 15 rebounds from Tyler Hepinger, Sheffield beat visiting Iroquois, 61-54.

Tony Richards added 11 points and five rebounds for the Wolverines.

Corrion Combest led Iroquois with 22 points with Opal Akol and Ben Burkhardt each scoring 10.

The 37 points for Hepinger are the second-most in his career behind a 38-point game against DuBois Central Catholic his sophomore season.

FAIRVIEW 73, CORRY 36

                                   

FAIRVIEW, Pa. – Fairview scored 27 points in the first quarter and never looked back on its way to a 73-36 Region 5 win over Corry. 

James Sitter led four Fairview players in double figures with 13 points. 

Harry Murphey added 12 points, while Logan Frazao and Tyler Shultz netted 11 each for the Tigers. 

Tucker Clark and Logan Joncas scored 13 points apiece for Corry. 

SHARON 64, SHARPSVILLE 53

SHARPSVILLE, Pa. – Otis Drive led four Sharon players in double figures with 18 points as the Tigers outlasted Sharpsville, 64-53.

Brett Salsgiver netted 13 points for the winners, while Shawn Hill and Connor Porterfield chipped in with 10 apiece.

Ryan Ladjevich had 17 points for Sharpsville and James Thomas 15.

ERIE 78, MEADVILLE 61

ERIE, Pa. – Marcell Banks connected on a game-high 26 points as Erie battle past Meadville, 78-61. 

Three Erie players were also in double figures with 11 points each – John Woodward, Marquell Darnell and Jamie Smith. 

Reese Pero and Savior Hughes scored 11 points each for the Bulldogs. 

HARBOR CREEK 60, FORT LEBOEUF 34

WATERFORD, Pa.- Harbor Creek jumped out to an early double-digit lead on its way to a 60-34 Region 5 win over Fort LeBoeuf. 

Cody Smith led Harbor Creek with 16 points, while Ryan Whitman netted 14 and Sam Howell 12. 

                                  

Marquis Richmond paced the Bison with 13 points. 

GENERAL MCLANE 65, ERIE FIRST CHRISTIAN 55

EDINBORO, Pa. – Danny Bruce led four General McLane players in double figures as the Lancers powered past Erie High, 65-55. 

GM outscored EFC by 10 in the third quarter en route to the win. 

Alex Bruce had 15 points for the Lancers and Jeremiah Schreiber and Eli Bruce 10 each. 

Aaron Collins had a big game in the loss for EFC with 32 points. 

GIRLS

GROVE CITY 49, SHARON 15 

SHARON, Pa. – Clara Hannon led a balanced effort with 13 points as Grove City raced past Sharon, 53-12. 

Piper Como netted nine points for the winners and Becca Santom eight. 

Tay Chester and LayRonica Gash had six points each for Sharon. 

SENECA 67, EISENHOWER 29

WATTSBURG, Pa. – Mayidson Kent scored 14 of her game-high 18 points in the first half as Seneca raced past Eisenhower, 67-29. 

Kate O’Connell had 10 points for Seneca, which had 13 different players make their way into the scoring column. 

Bella Marino led Eisenhower with 11 points and two blocks, while Lilly Smyth netted eight points. 

FRANKLIN 47, OIL CITY 27

OIL CITY, Pa. – Camden Bashor and Zelika Hartle scored 14 points apiece as Franklin notched a 47-27 win over Oil City. 

Reilly Phipps added 13 points for the Knights, who outscored the Oilers 28-10 in the second half en route to the win. 

Maddy Marczak led Oil City with seven points. 

COCHRANTON 67, CONNEAUT (Pa.) 38

LINESVILLE, Pa. – Lexie Moore poured in 22 points as Cochranton eased past Conneaut, 67-38. 

Jaylin McGill netted 12 points and Carly Richter 11 for the Cardinals, who outscored the Eagles 44-14 in the second half. 

Rylee Jones had a team-high 16 points for Conneaut. 

FARRELL 48, LAKEVIEW 40

FARRELL, Pa. – Sanaa Brodie netted 20 points and Deryah Stewart 19 as Farrell downed Lakeview, 48-40. 

Reese Gadsby led Lakeview with 13 points and Amber Sefton added 10. 

MERCER 37, REYNOLDS 29 

MERCER, Pa. – Peyton Miller scored 14 points as Mercer topped Reynolds 37-29. 

Julia Balaski added 13 points for the winners. 

Halle Murcko paced Reynolds with 11 points.
