Feb. 15, 2022 D10 Hoops: Corry’s Joncas Reaches Milestone Mark; Fairview Clinches Share of Region 5 Title

CORRY, Pa. – Corry’s Logan Joncas reached the 1,000-point mark for his career in a 72-49 win over Titusville.

Joncas needed 15 points coming into the game and he finished with 24. The Pitt-Bradford commit also drained four threes.

Nick Brundage was also in double figures for the Beavers with 13 points.

Isaiah Colon led Titusville with 14 points.

                                      

FRANKLIN 69, SHARON 26

FRANKLIN, Pa. – Franklin wrapped up a 20-win regular season with a convincing 69-26 win over Sharon.

Easton Fulmer had a monster game, scoring 23 of his 30 points in the first half, including four threes.

Damon Curry and Luke Guth were also in double figures with 12 and 10 points respectively.

Connor Porterfield led Sharon with eight points.

                          

WARREN 72, CONNEAUT (Pa.) 44

WARREN, Pa. – Brady Berdine scored 15 points as nine different Warren players scored in a 72-44 win over Conneaut.

The Dragons had a monster third-quarter, outsourcing the Eagles 29-8. Berdine had nine of his points in the third, while J.T. Blum tallied seven of his 13.

Tommy Nyquist was also in double figures for Warren with 11 points.

Ryan Richardson had 13 points to lead Conneaut and Connor Perrye added 12.

EISENHOWER 43, SAEGERTOWN 40

RUSSELL, Pa. – Homecourt advantage has been critical in Region 2 all season and was so again on Tuesday as Eisenhower knocked Saegertown 43-40.

The Panthers were looking to claim the title outright but will have to wait to do so with their loss coupled with Cambridge Springs’ win.

Wyatt Lookenhouse had a big game for Eisenhower in the win with 16 points, while Curt Darling added nine and Kael Hunt seven.

Jaden Wilkins had 15 points for Saegertown and Brady Greco nine.

                                   

COCHRANTON 61, UNION CITY 41

COCHRANTON, Pa. – Cochranton jumped out to a 10-point first quarter lead and never looked back in a 61-41 Region 2 win over Union City.

Jaiben Walker and Landon Homa led the way for the Cardinals, scoring 18 points apiece. Chase Miller was also in double figures for Cochranton with 12 points.

Bryce Drayer led Union City with 14 points and Kyler Shaffer added 10.

FAIRVIEW 67, OIL CITY 31

FAIRVIEW, Pa. – Fairview avenged its lone Region 5 loss of the season in a 67-31 win over Oil City.

The Tigers got off to a blistering start, leading 27-4 after the first quarter.

Logan Frazao led the way for Fairview with 22 points, while James Sitter tallied 17 and Tyler Shultz 12.

The Tigers have clinched at least a share of the region title and can claim it outright with a win over Harbor Creek on Friday.

CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS 57, YOUNGSVILLE 30

YOUNGSVILLE, Pa. – Hunter Spaid scored 13 points as a pair of Cambridge Springs players scored in double figures in a 57-30 with a win over Youngsville.

With the win, Cambridge Springs kept hopes of a Region 2 co-title alive.

Ethan Counasse was also in double figures with 10 points as a total of nine different Blue Devils scored.

Keegan Mesel had nine points and Koby Hendrickson seven for Youngsville.

ROCKY GROVE 53, MERCER 40

                                  

MERCER, Pa. – Isaac Clayton and D’Andre Whitman combined for 35 points as Rocky Grove powered past Mercer, 53-40.

Clayton had 18 points and Whittman 17 as the Orioles outscored the Mustangs 27-18 in the second half.

Daemyin Mattocks had 13 points and Logan Turton 11 for Mercer.

GROVE CITY 66, SHARPSVILLE 58

GROVE CITY, Pa. – Landon Haggart had a monster game with 30 points as Grove City held off Sharpsville, 66-58.

The Eagles, who also got 10 points from Dylan Stull, went on a 19-11 third-quarter run after the game was tied at the half, 29-all.

James Thomas had another big game for Sharpsville with 22 points, while Mack Staunch tallied 17.

IROQUOIS 46, MAPLEWOOD 41

LAWRENCE PARK, Pa. – Iroquois built a 14-point halftime lead and held off a Maplewood rally for a 46-41 Region 2 victory.

Corrion Combest led the way for Iroquois with 15 points and Ben Burkhardt added 13.

Logan Kennedy had 13 points and Noah Burk 12 for Maplewood.

SLIPPERY ROCK 67, HICKORY 56

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – John Sabo poured in 28 points as Slippery Rock earned a big 67-56 Region 4 win over Hickory.

The Rockets scored 41 points in the second half en route to the win.

Dylan Gordon was also in double figures for Slippery Rock with 12 points.

Hickory’s Tyson Djakovich finished with 21 points and Joey Fazzone 16.

CATHEDRAL PREP 44, MEADVILLE 32

MEADVILLE, Pa. – Region 6 champion Cathedral Prep got 16 points from Semontae Lofton in a 44-32 win over Meadville.

Jake Sambuchino added 13 points for the Ramblers.

Khalon Simmons led Meadville with 13 points.

HARBOR CREEK 50, FORT LEBOEUF 35

WATERFORD, Pa. – Gavin Ennis scored 16 points as Harbor Creek set up Friday’s showdown with Fairview with a 50-35 win over Fort LeBoeuf.

The Huskies can get a share of the Region 5 title with a win on Friday.

Nick Krahe and Jaden Rocco added 12 points each for the Huskies.

LAKEVIEW 51, COMMODORE PERRY 26

STONEBORO, Pa. – Lakeview got 27 points from Cam Pence in a 51-26 victory over Commodore Perry.

Lane Smith added seven points for Lakeview.

Kyle Stringert paced Commodore Perry with nine points.

VENANGO CATHOLIC 45, TIDIOUTE CHARTER 28

TIDIOUTE, Pa. – Behind 27 points and 10 steals from Lily Homan, visiting Venango Catholic rolled past Tidioute Charter, 45-28.

Mariah Wessell added six points and seven steals for the Lady Vikings with Alyson Stewart chipping in nine rebounds and a point.

Angelina Daniella had 14 points for Tidioute Charter.
