Feb. 10, 2022 D10 Hoops: Fairview Girls Pick Up 20th Win; Cochranton, Conneaut, GC Girls Triumph; McDowell Boys Knock off Butler

FAIRVIEW, Pa. – Fairview improved to 20-0 with a 52-27 win over Fort LeBoeuf.

Hope Garrity poured in 21 points for the Tigers, while Ella Garrity had 10, Sara Gennuso nine, and Bre Heidt eight for Fairview, which led 34-16 at halftime.

Jillian Soder led Fort LeBoeuf with nine points.

GROVE CITY 56, FRANKLIN 43

GROVE CITY, Pa. – Grove City came out firing, going on a 20-5 fourth-quarter run on their way to a big 56-43 win over Franklin to keep them atop the Region 5 standings.

                                      

Emma Santom led three Grove City players in double figures with 14 points, while Piper Como added 13 and Hannah Reiber 11.

Como and Izzie Gamble had five rebounds each, while Reiber dished out three assists.

Jamie Blum had 13 points for Franklin and Camdon Bashor and Jennifer Blum nine each.

CONNEAUT (Pa.) 51, HICKORY 38

LINESVILLE, Pa. – Jaelyn Blood had 17 points and 11 rebounds as Conneaut earned a 51-38 win over Hickory.

                          

Conneaut built a 12-point halftime lead en route to the win.

Blood also had three steals, while Rylee Jones had 15 points, seven rebounds, six assists and three steals and Hannah Brady 10 points and six rebounds for Conneaut.

Mariah Swanson had 14 points for Hickory and Emily Duncan 10.

COCHRANTON 52, EISENHOWER 8

COCHRANTON, Pa. – Jaylin McGill and Carly Richter scored eight points each as Cochranton beat Eisenhower, 52-8.

Nine different Cardinals made their way into the scoring column.

Bella Marino and Mackenzie Dunn had four points each for Eisenhower.

LAKEVIEW 44, SHARPSVILLE 35

STONEBORO, Pa. – Lakeview outscored Sharpsville 16-6 in the fourth quarter to earn a 44-35 victory.

Reese Gadsby had another big game for Lakeview, scoring 23 points, including eight in the fourth quarter (6-of-6 free-throws).

                                   

Alaina Peltonen added eight points for Lakeview.

Chasie Fry had 16 points for Sharpsville, including a perfect 8-of-8 from the free-throw line.

SLIPPERY ROCK 48, MEADVILLE 32

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Ella McDermott scored 15 points as Slippery Rock netted a 48-32 Region 5 win over Meadville.

Gianna Bedel had 12 points for Slippery Rock, which led by 12 at halftime en route to the win.

Phoebe Templin had 14 points for Meadville.

WEST MIDDLESEX 49, REYNOLDS 29

WEST MIDDLESEX, Pa. – Carlie Beatty scored 15 points to lead three West Middlesex players in double figures in a 49-29 win over Reynolds.

Emily Anthony tallied 14 points for the Big Reds and Caitlin Stephens 10.

West Middlesex led 34-9 at halftime.

Halle Murcko had 12 points for Reynolds.

WILMINGTON 46, SHARON 32

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – Lia Krarup scored 20 points to power Wilmington to a 46-32 win over Sharon.

Ellery Phanco and Sarah Dieter had six points each for the Greyhounds.

Tay Chester had 11 points and Ella Connelly 10 for Sharon.

                                  

GREENVILLE 60, TITUSVILLE 17

TITUSVILLE, Pa. – Grace Cano led three Greenville players in double figures with 19 points in a 60-17 win over Titusville.

Josie Lewis had 12 points and Anna Harpst 11 for the Trojans.

Rylie McGarvey had nine points for Titusville.

UNION CITY35, SAEGERTOWN 24

UNION CITY, Pa. – Jessica Messenger tallied 15 points in Union City’s 35-24 win over Saegertown.

Cathryn Reynolds and Michayla Magee had seven points apiece for the Bears.

Lindsey Greco had 10 points for Saegertown.

FARRELL 62, JAMESTOWN 16

FARRELL, Pa. – Sanaa Brodie scored 19 points as Farrell jumped out to a big lead early in a 62-16 win over Jamestown.

Three other Farrell players were in double figures, as Jaylie Green netted 16 points, De’Merria Thomas 11, and D’Eryan Stewart 10.

Jillian McElhinney had 5 five points for Jamestown.

HARBOR CREEK 42, CORRY 26

CORRY, Pa. – Harbor Creek outscored Corry 12-0 in the second quarter in a 42-26 victory.

Rylee Kapsar was the lone Harbor Creek player in double figures with 15 points.

Skylar Reidel had nine points for Corry.

MERCYHURST PREP 44, NORTHWESTERN 25

ALBION, Pa. – Anna Tranum scored 12 points as Mercyhurst Prep beat Northwestern, 44-25.

The Lakers led 23-4 at halftime.

Mia Mangini tallied nine points and Olivia Kulyk eight for Mercyhurst.

Taylor Stagl had nine points to pace Northwestern.

KENNEDY CATHOLIC 80, COMMODORE PERRY 7

HADLEY, Pa. – Layke Fields scored 18 points as Kennedy Catholic beat Commodore Perry, 80-7.

Hayden Keith netted 15 points and Bellah DiNardo 12 for the Golden Eagles.

GIRARD 61, CONNEAUT (OHIO) 47

CONNEAUT, OHIO – Kayla Sharman had a monster game, pouring in 34 points as Girard earned a 61-47 win over Conneaut.

Sharman knocked down six threes in the win.

Girard went on a 13-5 run in the third quarter to take control.

Lily Polk added nine points for Girard, while Kayla Farley had 17 to pace Conneaut.

BOYS

MCDOWELL 69, BUTLER 67

ERIE, Pa. – Luke Chamberlain poured in 25 points as McDowell earned a hard-fought 69-67 win over Butler.

Stephon Porter and Isaiah Logvin had 16 points apiece for the Trojans.

McDowell overcame a big game from Butler’s Division I prospect Devin Carney, who poured in 35 points.

SHARPSVILLE 53, SHARON 42

SHARON, Pa. – James Thomas and Mack Staunch combined for 38 points as Sharpsville topped Sharon, 53-42.

Thomas poured in 21 and Staunch 17 for the Blue Devils, who built a 16-point halftime lead.

Keon Hacker and Joe Messina had 12 points apiece for Sharon.
