
ERIE, Pa. – Fairview rallied for a 3-2 victory over McDowell to win the District 10 Class 3A team tennis title on Tuesday, while, Villa beat Hickory 5-0 to claim the Class 2A crown at the Villa Maria outdoor courts.
Fairview came back in dramatic fashion against the Trojans after falling behind 2-0. The Tigers clincher came at No. 1 doubles, as the team of Emma Schuette and Halle Myers edged the Trojans’ Abby Idzik and Maria Minichelli.
The Tigers’ No. 2 doubles team of Julie Beichner and Grace Platz earned a back-and-forth win, 6-3, 6-7, 6-3 over Tia Jain and Natalia Miska.
The other Fairview win came at No. 1 singles, as Trinity Fox beat Samantha Becker 6-3, 6-1.
Brooke Lowry and Nabiah Bhatti won at No. 2 and No 3 singles respectively for the Trojans.

Villa won yet another team title, its fifth in a row, in dominant fashion, as Tara Thomas got a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles over Daphne Borwicz. Thomas has also qualified for the PIAA golf championships.
Ryleigh Vallone and Anna Poranski won at No. 2 and No. 3 singles over Hickory’s Isabelle Frangakis and Nicolette Leonard, assuring the team title for the Victors.
At No. 1 doubles, Anne Marie Prichard and Abby Consiglio bested Ava Spielvogle and Abbie Bender, while Margaret McGovern and Grace Teed beat Nora Logue and Hannah Beighley and No. 2 doubles.
Villa will play in the Class 2A quarterfinal on Oct. 28, while Fairview will meet DuBois in a Class 3A sub-regional on Oct. 22.
