Fairview Girls Edge Lakeview in Class 3A to Earn First D10 Title in Program History

FAIRVIEW, Pa. – History was made on Saturday, as the Fairview Lady Tigers captured the first D10 title in program history, knocking off Lakeview, 44-37. 

Hope Garrity turned in a star performance, netting 21 points in the victory, including a perfect 7-of-7 from the free-throw line.

Sara Gennuso added 12 points for Fairview (20-3)

                                      

Garrity came out of the gates strong, scoring eight points in the first quarter, but it was actually fourth-seeded Lakeview that took a 20-19 lead, thanks to the strong play of Reese Gadsby. 

Gadsby scored seven points in the second quarter, including a 3, as the Sailors (17-4) outscored the hosts 10-5 in the second quarter. 

Gadsby scored 13 of her team-high 18 points in the first half. 

Fairview rallied to take a 2-point lead, 31-29 to start the fourth, as Gennuso and Abby McCall both knocked down 3s. 

Jada McBride added seven points for the champs, while Dani Sontheimer added nine points for Lakeview. 

                          

With the win, the Tigers advance to the PIAA playoffs, where they will meet District 6 champion Forest Hills in the quarterfinals on Friday.
