Eckles Drives in 5, Young K’s 10 including 500th Career K as St. Marys Beats DCC; Cranberry Tops Karns City, 25-19

ST. MARYS, Pa. – Olivia Eckels drove in five runs and Kendall Young struck out 10, including her 500th career strike out, as St. Marys topped visiting DuBois Central Catholic, 9-2, in a battle of two-loss teams.

Eckels was 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles. Her two-run double in the second capped a four-run second inning for the Lady Dutch (13-2), while her bases-loaded, bases-clearing double in the third capped a five-run inning that put St. Marys ahead 9-2.

Named the Allegheny Grille of Foxburg Player of the Game, Ecekels talked about the victory.

Young, meanwhile, allowed two earned runs on five hits and a walk. Her fifth strikeout of the game, on a 3-2 pitch that appeared to be a riser to Lydia Morgan, went in the books as career strikeout No. 500 in her third season of varsity competition.

Young added a pair of hits in the win going 2-for-3 with a walk with her courtesy runner Zoe Romanic scoring a run, and Lindsey Reiter drove in a pair of runs going 1-for-3 with a run scored. Shannon Kaiser added a triple in the victory and was 1-for-2 with an RBI and two runs scored.

               

Kayley Risser was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored for DCC (16-3) with Kali Franklin going 2-for-3 and Rose Whipple 1-for-3 with an RBI.

Melia Mitskavich took the loss going two-plus inning allowing eight earned runs on eight hits, a walk, and a hit batter.

Rylee Kulbatsky gave up an earned run on ah it and two walks while striking out three.

ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 15, WARREN 0, 4 innings

ST. MARYS, Pa. – Elk County Catholic belted four home runs in a 15-0, 4-inning win over Warren.

Ellie Baron, Emily Mourer, Reagan Bauer, and Syd Alexander all went deep for the Lady Crusaders.

Mourer finished 3-for-4 with four RBIs as ECC had 19 hits, scoring nine runs in the fourth inning to put the game away.

Baron was 2-for-2 with three runs and two RBIs, while Alexander was 4-for-4 with two runs and an RBI, Bauer was 2-for-2 with three runs and two RBIs, Lydia Anderson was 3-for-3 with two doubles, three RBIs, and two runs and Gabby Weisner was 3-for-3 with a double, RBI and two runs.

Mourer tossed four shutout innings, striking out three, walking one, and allowing two hits.

Halle Kuzminski had both hits for Warren. Lillian Devore took the loss, allowing 15 earned runs in 3 ⅔ innings on 16 hits and four walks.

            

MONITEAU 11, FOREST AREA 8

TIONESTA, Pa. – Scoring all 11 of its runs over the last four innings, Moniteau rallied past Forest Area, 11-8, at West Forest.

The Lady Warriors trailed 5-0 going to the fourth but scored six runs in the fourth to take a 6-5 lead. After the Fires tied the game with a run in the bottom of the inning, Moniteau scored twice in the fifth, twice in the sixth, and once in the seventh while limiting Forest Area to two seventh-inning runs.

Emma Covert hit her 11th home run of the season for Moniteau and was 2-for-4 with a walk, two runs scored, and an RBI.

Lily Staab was 2-for-5 with a double, two runs scored, and three RBIs for the Lady Warriors while Autumn Stewart was 2-for-5 with two RBIs.

Also for Moniteau, Addy Williams was 3-for-4 with two runs scored, and Alex Stewart was 3-for-5 with a double and two runs scored, and an RBI.

Alexis Oswald hit a home run and drove in three runs for Forest Area. She was 2-for-4 with two runs scored.

Brooke Felleti was also 4-for-4 with a run scored, while Madison McFarland was 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and two runs scored and Faith Dietrich was 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored.

Covert got the win going seven innings allowing eight runs, two earned, on 10 hits while striking out three.

Izzy Flick took the loss going 4 ⅓ innings allowing eight runs, six earned, on nine hits and two walks while striking out four. Mackenzie Mellon gave up three earned runs on three hits, a walk, and three hit batters in two innings of work.

CRANBERRY 25, KARNS CITY 19

SENECA, Pa. – Perhaps it was fitting that on a crisp spring day, Cranberry and Karns City played a game that resembled a football final score with the Berries topping the visiting Lady Gremlins, 25-19.

In a game with 15 errors and 34 hits, Cranberry had a line score that showed 3-3-3-4-3-9 while Karns City’s was 5-0-0-8-0-4-2.

Cassie Scarbrough hit a home run and a double while going 3-for-5 with a walk, four runs scored, and four RBIs for the Berries with Reyna Watson and Rylee Coe also adding doubles.

Watson was 3-for-4 with two walks, an RBI, and three runs scored, and Coe was 2-for-5 with a walk, two runs scored, and two RBIs.

Kendell Findlay drove in five runs in the victory going 3-for-4 with three runs scored, McKaylah Smith was 2-for-4 with a walk, two RBIs, and three runs scored, Jadyn Shumaker was 1-for-4 with a walk, two RBIs, and three runs scored, and Katelyn Beggs scored three times as Denali Wenner’s courtesy runner. Wenner was 1-for-4 with two RBIs.

Jess Dunn homered and doubled for Karns City with Addison Burrows adding a pair of doubles and Jada Polczynski also doubling.

Dunn was 4-for-5 with a walk, four runs scored, and six RBIs, Burrows was 2-for-4 with a walk, an RBI, and three runs scored, and Polczynski was 2-for-4 with two walks, two runs scored, and two RBIs.

Bailey O’Donell also drove in five runs for the Lady Gremlins going 2-for-5 with a run scored, while Emily Sherman was 2-for-4 with a walk, a run scored, and an RI, Nicole Tyalor was 1-for-4 with a walk, two RBIs, and three runs scored, and Lyrik Reed was 2-for-5 with a walk and three runs scored.

Watson got the win going 5 ⅓ innings allowing 17 runs, 10 earned, on 14 hits, eight walks, and a hit batter.

Burrows took the loss going 4 ⅔ innings allowing 22 runs,12 earned, on 18 hits, six walks, and a hit batter while striking out four.

JOHNSONBURG 7, PORT ALLEGANY 2

JOHNSONBURG, Pa. – Zoey Grunthaner drove in a pair of runs to help Johnsonburg to a 7-2 win over visiting Port Allegany.

Gruntahner was 2-for-4 with a run scored.

Jenna Kasmierski added a double for the Ramettes while going 1-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored.

Cayle Lloyd was 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored for Port Allegany.

Julia Jones got the win going seven innings allowing two earned runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out 13.

Lloyd took the loss going six innings allowing seven runs, five earned, on six hits and nine walks while striking out seven.

PUNXSUTAWNEY 15, BROOKVILLE 0, 4 INNINGS

PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. – Karli Young hit two of Punxsutawney’s four home runs in a 15-0, four-inning home win over Brookville.

Young hit a three-run blast and a solo shot and drove in four runs for the Lady Chucks.

Avery Powell smacked a grand slam, and Ciara Toven hit a two-run home run while also adding a double and five RBIs in the victory.

Young got the win going four shutout innings allowing one hit and a walk while striking out five.

BRADFORD 11, BROCKWAY 3

BRADFORD, Pa. – Kalie Dixon hit a home run and Samantha Miller had a double and a triple to lift Bradford to an 11-3 home win over Brockway.

Dixon was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBIs, and Mille was 2-for-2 with two RBIs.

Madison Dougherty drove in four and scored a run in the victory, while Alana Benson was 3-for-4 with four runs scored.

Rheanna Spinda was 2-for-2 with a walk, a run scored, and an RBI for Brockway.

Dixon got the win going 6 ⅓ innings allowing three runs, two earned, on three hits, nine walks, and a hit batter while striking out six. Sophie Cornelius pitched ⅔ of an inning allowing a hit and striking out one.

Gabby Hertel took the loss going six innings allowing 11 unearned runs on nine hits while striking out six.

REDBANK VALLEY 15, CLARION-LIMESTONE 0, 5 INNINGS

STRATTANVILLE, Pa . – A day after squeaking out a 3-1 win at home over Clarion-Limestone, Redbank Valley traveled north to Strattanville and beat the Lady Lions, 15-0, in four innings

Peytin Polka had three doubles in the victory while Samantha Bowser had a double and a triple, Taylor Ripple had two doubles, and Quinn White and Mackenzie Foringer each added doubles.

Polka was 3-for-3 with a walk, four runs scored, and three RBIs, Bowser was 3-for-4 with two runs scored, and three RBIs, White was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs, and Bella Orr also drove in two runs and scored a run.

Also for the Lady Bulldogs, Foringer went 2-for-4 with two runs scored, and JXX Neiswonger was 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Foringer tossed a one-hit shutout. She struck out four.

Jenna Dunn took the loss going 3 ⅔ innings allowing 11 runs, seven earned, on 12 hits and a walk while striking out three.
