DuBois Softball Tops Warren; Cathedral Prep Baseball Wins Wolves Classic Crown

SOFTBALL

DUBOIS 9, WARREN 1

DUBOIS, Pa. – DuBois scored five runs in the sixth inning to pull away for a 9-1 win over Warren.

Alana Stuart had a big day at the plate for Warren, going 3-for-4 with an RBI double as Warren grabbed an early 1-0 lead in the first inning.

   

                  

Halle Kuzminski also had two hits for the Dragons.

DuBois took the lead for good in the fourth on Alexis Pfeufer’s RBI single and Haley Reed’s RBI double.

Pasternak hit a solo home run in the fifth and DuBois did all of its damage in the sixth after two outs.

Gabby Gulvas doubles and Stuart struck out Jordan McGranor, but a dropped third strike allowed her to reach. An error, an RBI single from Ava Baronick and a 2-run double off the bat of Pfeufer made the score 9-1.

Barnock, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI, also got the complete game win, striking out seven, allowing eight hits, and walking three.

                          

Pfeufer went 2-for-4 with three RBIs, while Pasternak was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs, and LynxLender was 2-for-3 with double and two runs scored.

Stuart took the loss, allowing 11 hits, striking out seven and walking two. Stuart was also 3-for-4 with three doubles, while Halle Kuzminski had a pair of hits for the Dragons.

CATHEDRAL PREP 8, ESTRELLA FOOTHILLS 0 (Ariz)

               

GOODYEAR, Ariz. – Cathedral Prep concluded a dominant run at the Wolves Classic with an 8-0 win over Estrella Foothills in the title game.

Luke Costello was absolutely dominant in the win, getting the complete game shutout, and allowing just four hits while striking out 13.

Costello did it at the plate as well, ripping a solo home run for a Prep team that outscored their opponent 55-2 in their four games in Arizona.

Andrew Costello went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs for the Ramblers, while Jacob Koshan was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI and Cole Constable was 2-for-2 with three runs scored.

CATHEDRAL PREP 17, RIO RICO (Ariz.) 2, 3 innings

GOODYEAR, Ariz. – Andrew Costello, Andrew Malec, and Luke Costello all homered as Cathedral Prep continued its torrid pace in Arizona, beating Rio Rico (Ariz.) 17-2 in three innings in the Wolves Classic semifinals.

The Ramblers scored eight runs in the first inning and nine in the second, collecting 15 hits in the process.

Malec finished 2-for-2 with five RBIs, while Luke Costello was 3-for-3 with a homer, triple, 3 RBIs, and three runs scored, Jason Fultz was 3-for-3 with a double, three runs scored and an RBI, and Andrew Costello was 1-for-3 with three RBIs, Nick Jackson was 2-for-2 with a triple, three RBIs and two runs and Joey Spano was 2-for-2 with a double, RBI and a run scored.

Jacob Koshan pitched a scoreless inning with a strikeout for the Ramblers.
