DuBois Softball Gets Another Walk-Off Win; Port Allegany Sweeps Double Dip; ACV/Union with Victory

DUBOIS, Pa. – Emma Delp’s bases-loaded fielder’s choice in the bottom of the seventh inning gave DuBois a 6-5 win over visiting Altoona.

The Lady Beavers had surrendered a 5-2 lead going to the seventh inning when the Mountain Lions took advantage of a pair of errors to score three times to tie the game,

But in the bottom of the seventh, Alexas Pfeufer led off with a single and was replaced on the bath paths by Anastasija Daniluk. Ava Baronick followed with a single, and Lynk Lander walked to load the bases for Delp, whose fielder’s choice won the game, the third time in less than two weeks DuBois has won on a walk-off.

Barnonick was 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored while Delp was 2-for-3 with a walk, a double, and two RBIs with her courtesy runner Morgan Pasternak scoring twice. Pfeufer was also 2-for-4.

               

Winless Altoona (0-15) saw Grace Glasgow go 3-for-3 with a walk and three runs scored while Gracie Wilt was 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBIs, and Bridget Delozier was 1-for-3 with a double, a walk, a run scored, and an RBI.

Delp got the win going seven innings allowing five runs, three earned, on eight hits and four walks while striking out 11.

Skyler Reed took the loss going six-plus innings allowing six runs, five earned, on nine hits and three walks while striking out one and hitting a batter.

PORT ALLEGANY SWEEPS SMETHPORT

SMETHPORT, Pa. – Port Allegany swept a doubleheader at Smethport winning the opener, 12-1, in five innings and the second game, 16-10.

                          

In the first contest, Cayle Lloyd got the win going four innings allowing four hits and a walk. Makayla Alcorn pitched the fifth giving up a hit and a walk.

Madeline Smith led the Lady Gators on offense going 2-for-4 with two RBIs, while Emily Baumgarner was 2-for-4 with a double and Leigha Nelson was 2-for-3 with a two-run double. Emily Errick also had a two-run double while going 1-for-3.

Elena McKenna was 2-for-2 with an RBI for Smethport.

Tylar Colley took the loss allowing 11 hits and 11 walks while striking out one.

In Game Two, Smith drove in three runs for Port Allegany going 2-for-5, while Nelson was 2-for-5 with two RBIs, Errick was 2-for-5 with an RBI, and Lloyd was 2-for-4 with an RBI.

               

Janell Dinch was 2-for-5 with an RBI for Smethport.

Lloyd got the win going six innings allowing five hits and 11 walks while striking out six. Alcorn went an inning allowing four hits and a walk.

A-C VALLEY/UNION 16, LAKEVIEW 5, 5 innings

SLIGO, Pa. – Mackenzie Parks nearly hit for the cycle, going 3-for-4 with a home run, triple, double, and four RBIs as A-C Valley/Union beat Lakeview 16-5 in five innings.

A-C Valley/Union scored multiple runs in every inning, as Kya Wetzel was 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs, Rylan Strauser was 3-for-3 with two runs, Lexi Bauer was 1-for-3 with an RBI and two runs and Megan Walzak was 1-for-2 with an RBI and two runs.

Parks got the win, allowing three runs on five hits and striking out one.

Hemi Brazel hit a 2-run homer for Lakeview, while Cassidy Richards was 3-for-3 with three runs.

Brazel took the loss, allowing 16 runs on 19 hits while striking out a pair.
