HERSHEY, Pa. – It was a banner day for District 10 and District 9 runners at the PIAA Cross Country Championships on Saturday at Hershey’s Parkview Course, with the 1A and 2A girls leading the way .
Reynolds’ Hannah Wagner finished with state silver, while Wilmington’s Grace Mason was third and Seneca’s Ashley Post fifth in the Class 1A girls race.
Conneaut’s Meara Shannon was third, Bradford’s Korie Dixon fourth and Fairview’s Maddison Hayes sixth in the Class 2A girls race.
Wilmington finished third and North Clarion fourth, respectively in the Class 1A team scoring. Rachel Bauer led NC with a 24th place finish.
Also in the Class 2A race, Corry’s Hannah Smrcka was 12th and St. Marys’ Samantha Hayes 13th. St. Marys finished fifth in the team standings.
In the Class 1A race, Smethport’s Jenna Gregory was eighth and Northern Potter’s Courtney Martin 12th.
For the boys, Elk County Catholic’s Joe Wolfe raced to a seventh place finish in Class 1A, while North East’s Brock Pennington was also seventh in the Class 2A race.
McDowell’s Claire Benton was the top finisher in the Class 3A girls race, finishing 14th.
Grove City’s Gabe Nichols was 10th in the Class 2A boys race, as the Eagles finished fourth in the team standings.
