Dec. 29, 2021 D9 Girls’ Hoops: North Clarion, Clarion-Limestone Claim Tournament Titles

KANE, Pa. – Gwen Siegel scored 18 points as North Clarion beat Kane, 56-30 in the Kane Christmas Tournament title game.

Siegel was named tournament MVP, while Lauren Lutz, Maria Bauer, Claire Kreibel, and Amya Green added six points each for North Clarion. Kriebel was also named to the all-tournament team.

The She-Wolves allowed 12 points in the second half.

Maya Smith had 11 points to lead Kane and Mia Anderson added 10.

CLARION-LIMESTONE 55, PORTERSVILLE CHRISTIAN 35

HADLEY, Pa. – Frances Milliron scored all 18 of her points in the first half as Clarion-Limestone beat Portersville Christian, 55-35 to claim the Commodore Perry Tournament title.

The Lions led by nine at halftime and outscored PCS 24-13 in the second half.

Kendall Dunn scored all 14 of her points in the second half for C-L, while Lexi Coull netted 10 and Alex Leadbetter nine.

Isabel Green led Portersville Christian with 13 points

NORTHERN POTTER 54, NORTH PENN-MANSFIELD 25

ULYSSES, Pa. – Rebecca Martin had 19 points and 11 rebounds as Northern Potter powered past North Penn-Mansfield, 54-25.

Courtney Martin had 16 points and pulled down seven rebounds for the Lady Panthers, who led 31-13 at halftime.

Abbie Cady had seven boards and Megan Hyde five for NoPo.

Ella Farrer led North Penn-Mansfield with 11 points.

DUBOIS 38, BROOKVILLE 31

BROOKVILLE, Pa. — Madison Rusnica scored 11 points and DuBois earned a finals berth in the Brookville Holiday Tournament finals against DuBois Central Catholic with a 38-31 win over the hosts..

DuBois used a 14-5 start to the second half to extend to its biggest lead the first of two times at 11 points at the 4:21 mark of the third quarter. Sarah Henninger finished with seven points and eight rebounds.

Brookville’s Alayna Haight nailed four 3-pointers and finished with 13 points.

DUBOIS CENTRAL CATHOLIC 48, BROCKWAY 29

BROOKVILLE, Pa. — Avenging a 16-point loss to Brockway earlier this month, DuBois Central Catholic turned on the Mercy Rule running clock in the third quarter on its way to a 48-29 win over the Lady Rovers in a first-round game at the Brookville Holiday Tournament.

DCC, which plays DuBois in Thursday’s final, led 36-11 at halftime and 47-15 by the end of the third quarter before Brockway’s 14-1 edge in the fourth set the final score.

Faith Jacob scored 14 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead the Lady Cardinals while Selena Buttery paced Brockway with 13 points and 12 rebounds.

REDBANK VALLEY 52, ELLWOOD CITY 45

NEW CASTLE, Pa. – Alivia Huffman scored eight of her 16 points in the fourth quarter as Redbank Valley earned a 52-45 win over Ellwood City in the opening round of the Shenango Christmas Tournament.

Redbank Valley outscored Ellwood City 17-4 over the final eight minutes to rally for the win.

Madison Foringer scored 14 points, including eight in the third quarter for Redbank, while Caylen Rearick added nine.

Kyla Servick led Ellwood City with 14 points.

MONITEAU 60, SHARON 28

MERCER, Pa. – Moniteau scored 27 points in the first quarter on its way to a 60-28 win over Sharon in the Mercer Christmas Tournament.

Catherine Kelly scored 21 points to lead the Warriors, including 15 in the first quarter. Davina Pry and Victoria Pry scored 14 and 12 points respectively for Moniteau.

Abby Jewart had seven points and five assists for the Warriors, while Davina Pry added eight rebounds and three blocks and Victoria Pry seven rebounds.

PUNXSUTAWNEY 71, CAMERON COUNTY 15

PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. – Chloe Presloid had 19 points and nine rebounds as Punxsutawney beat Cameron County, 71-15 in the opening round of the Punxsutawney Christmas Tournament.

The Lady Chucks led 49-5 at halftime.

Kiersten Riley scored 14 of her 18 points in the first quarter for Punxsy, while Samantha Griebel added nine points.

Aubree Lorenzo had five points for Cameron County.

ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 36, JOHNSONBURG 23

ST. MARYS, Pa. – Syd Alexander scored 13 points as Elk County Catholic beat Johnsonburg, 36-23 in the opening round of the Elk County Holiday Tournament.

The Crusaders built a nine-point first-quarter lead en route to the win.

Emily Mourer had 10 points and four blocks for ECC, while Tori Newton pulled down 10 rebounds and Sami Straub added five steals.

Annasophia Stauffer had nine points, four rebounds and two steals for Johnsonburg, while Kaci Stelene had seven rebounds and four steals and Maria Casilio five rebounds and three steals.

ST. MARYS 33, RIDGWAY 26

ST. MARYS, Pa. – St. Marys outscored Ridgway 16-2 in the first quarter en route to a 33-26 win in the opening round of the Elk County Holiday Tournament.

Izzy Catalone and Olivia Eckles both hit threes in the opening quarter for St. Marys, with Catalone finishing with 10 points and Eckles five. Maura Caskey added eight points and Isabelle Caskey six for the Lady Dutch.

Jenna Kasmierski had nine points to lead Ridgway and Payton Delhunty eight.

KEYSTONE 35, CRANBERRY 9

SENECA, Pa. – Natalie Bowser scored 14 points (12 in the first half) as Keystone topped Cranberry, 35-9.

Emma Gruber scored eight of her 11 points in the first quarter for Keystone.

Ayanna Ferringer and Haylie Gregory had three points each for Cranberry.

COUDERSPORT 45, WELLSBORO 32

WELLSBORO, Pa. Liz Frame led a balanced effort with 13 points as Coudersport earned a 45-32 non-league win over Wellsboro.

Emma Chambers had 12 points for Coudy, which built a 10-point first-quarter lead en route to the win. Savannah Myers added nine points for the Lady Falcons.

Emma Coolidge paced Wellsboro with 13 points.
