Dec. 29, 2021 D9 Boys’ Hoops: Srock has Monster Double-Double in DCC Victory; Cameron County Edges Clarion

DUBOIS, Pa. – Alec Srock had a monster double-double with 20 points and 25 rebounds as DuBois Central Catholic topped Brockway, 49-36 in the consolation game of the DuBois Christmas Tournament.

The Cardinals trailed by two at halftime, but came out in the second half and outscored Brockway 11-2 in the third quarter.

Jalen Kosko and Brendan Paisley netted seven points each for the Cardinals.

Noah Adams and Alex Carlson scored nine points each to lead Brockway.

CAMERON COUNTY 42, CLARION 41

                                      

PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa – Camdyn Allison and Hayden Brown scored 13 points apiece as Cameron County held off Clarion, 42-41.

The Red Raiders led 27-17 at halftime, but the Bobcats rallied with a 15-7 run in the third quarter.

Devon Lauer had 10 points and seven rebounds for the Bobcats, while Aiden Quinn had seven points and 10 rebounds. Christian Simko also had eight points for the Bobcats.

Landon Farren added seven points for Cameron County.

RIDGWAY 47, JOHNSONBURG 33

                          

ST. MARYS, Pa. – Domenic Allegretto led a balanced effort with 15 points as Ridgway beat Johnsonburg, 47-33 in the opening round of the Elk County Holiday Tournament.

The Elkers led 17-11 at halftime and outscored the Rams 11-3 in the third quarter to help take control.

Allegretto scored 11 of his 15 points in the second half, while Dan Park scored 14 points and Jack Benninger 11 (all in the second half) for the Elkers

Luke Zimmerman has 12 points to pace Johnsonburg.

ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 49, ST. MARYS 26

ST. MARYS, Pa. – Charlie Briendel scored 19 points as Elk County Catholic rolled to a 49-26 win over St. Marys in the opening round of the Elk County Holiday Tournament.

Luke Jansen netted 12 points for the Crusaders, who built a 30-10 halftime lead en route to the win. Jordan Wasko added eight points for ECC.

Zack Thorwart had nine points to lead St. Marys and Tanner Fox six.

BROOKVILLE 44, DUBOIS 37

DUBOIS, Pa. —Danny Lauer and Clayton Cook each scored 14 points, leading Brookville to the DuBois Holiday Tournament title with a 44-37 win over the host Beavers.

                                   

Griffin Ruhlman also reached double figures for the Raiders with 10 points. Brookville led 23-18 at halftime and 28-26 going into the fourth quarter before owning a 16-11 fourth-quarter edge.

Chooch Husted and Joey Foradora scored 11 and 10 points apiece for DuBois.

PUNXSUTAWNEY 50, MARION CENTER 41

PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. – Noah Weaver scored 15 points and five steals as Punxsutawney beat Marion Center 50-41 in the opening round of the Punxsutawney Holiday Tournament.

Gabe Kengersky had 13 points, nine rebounds, and eight assists for the Chucks, who also got eight points from Donny Neese.

Dawson Bracken had 15 points and Dakota Bracken 11 for the Chucks.

SMETHPORT 50, KANE 39

SHEFFIELD, Pa. – Alex Ognen scored 17 points, 15 of which came in the second half, as Smethport beat Kane 50-39 in the championship game of the Sheffield Christmas Tournament.

Up by one at halftime, the Hubbers went on a 16-7 third-quarter run to take control.

Brandon Higley scored 12 points and pulled down 12 rebounds for the Hubbers, while Preston Alfieri added eight points.

Andy Jekielek and Jack Bell scored 10 points each for Kane, while Landon Darr netted eight.

CLEARFIELD 56, GLENDALE 20

PATTON, Pa. – A day after dropping an overtime thriller, Clearfield bounced back with a 56-20 win over Glendale in the consolation game of the Cambria Heights Christmas Tournament.

Ryan Gearhart had 18 points and four rebounds for the Bison, who built a commanding 37-9 halftime lead.

Cole Miller added 13 points, eight rebounds, and five assists for Clearfield, while Isakk Way and Andon Greslick scored eight points each.

                                  

Logan Cree had eight points to lead Glendale.

SHEFFIELD 61, YOUNGSVILLE 46

SHEFFIELD, Pa. – Caden Copley led four Sheffield players in double figures with 14 points as the Wolverines topped Youngsville, 61-46 in the consolation game of the Sheffield Christmas Tournament.

The Wolverines led 29-25 at halftime and outscored the Eagles 23-13 in the third quarter en route to the win.

Lucas McNeal tallied 13 points for the Wolverines, while Connor Finch had 11 and Tony Richards 10.

Koby Hendrickson had a strong game for Youngsville, scoring 10 of his 14 points in the second half, while Nathan Lucks added nine and Keegan Mesel eight for the Eagles.

GENESEE VALLEY 59, NORTHERN POTTER 51

JASPER, N.Y. – Morgan Torreyro scored 17 points as Genesee Valley topped Northern Potter in the consolation game of the Jasper-Troupsburg Tournament, 59-51.

Nolan Smith and Tanyon Brown both had big games for Northern Potter, netting 21 and 17 points, respectively.

SLIPPERY ROCK 57, REDBANK VALLEY 37

SARVER, Pa. – John Sabo knocked down five threes on his way to a game-high 22 points as Slippery Rock knocked off Redbank Valley in the Freeport Tournament, 57-37.

Dylan Gordon was also in double figures for the Rockets with 13 points, while Jacob Wolak added nine.

The Rockets outscored the Bulldogs by 11 in the third quarter after building a 27-19 halftime advantage.

Chris Marshall led Redbank Valley with 16 points, while Owen Klouse added 12.

PHILIPSBURG-OSCEOLA 74, CURWENSVILLE 35

PHILIPSBURG, Pa. – Jake DeSimone scored 23 points to lead Philipsburg-Osceola to a 74-35 win over Curwensville.

Jeremy Whitehead also had 12 points for P-O.

Ty Terry led Curwensville with 10 points, while Chandler English added eight.
