Dec. 21, 2021 D10 Boys’ Hoops: Erie First Rallies Past Eisenhower; Franklin Puts up 92 in Win

RUSSELL, Pa. – Sam Gonzalez scored 26 points as Erie First Christian rallied from a 14-point third-quarter deficit to earn a 68-57 non-region win over Eisenhower.

Eisenhower led 46-32 late in the third quarter, but EFC outscored them 36-11 the rest of the way.

Gonzalez drained three triples en route to the win and Allegheny Grille of Foxburg Player of the Game honors. He talked about the win afterward:

Evan Montefiori also had a big game for the Eagles, scoring 19 points. Gonzalez scored 17 points in the second half and Montefiori 15. Jesse Jong was also in double figures with 13 points, while Anthony Collins added eight.

                                      

Wyatt Lookenhouse had another big game for Eisenhower, pouring in a game-high 27 points, including 10 in the third quarter.

Curt Darling added 14 points for the Knights.

FRANKLIN 92, GREENVILLE 33

                          

FRANKLIN, Pa. – Damon Curry led four Franklin players in double figures with 22 points as the Knights raced to a 92-33 win over Greenville.

Franklin scored 58 points in the first half en route to the win.

Easton Fulmer and Luke Guth had 18 points each, while Cole Buckley had 10 for the Knights, who drained 11 threes in the win.

Nate Stuyvesant, Jalen Ritzert and Lorgan Lentz had six points each for Greenville.

GROVE CITY 77, WILMINGTON 27

GROVE CITY, Pa. – Landon Haggart scored 20 points as Grove City powered past Wilmington, 77-27.

Haggart scored 14 of his 20 points in the first quarter.

Two other Grove City players were in double figures, as Dylan Stull scored 16 points and Joey Hathaway 14.

Pierce Nagel had 12 points to lead Wilmington.

MEADVILLE 77, CONNEAUT (Pa.) 45

                                   

LINESVILLE, Pa. – Khalon Simmons had a big game with 29 points as Meadville earned a 77-45 win over Conneaut.

The Bulldogs led 39-20 at halftime en route to the win.

Jack Burchard and Dontae Burnett had eight points each for the Bulldogs.

Alex Nottingham poured in 24 points to pace the Eagles.

SHEFFIELD 60, TITUSVILLE 48

SHEFFIELD, Pa. – Connor Finch and Tony Richards combined to score 45 points, as Sheffield topped visiting Titusville, 60-48.

Finch led the Wolverines with 25 points with Richards adding 20.

Lucas McNeil also reached double digits for Sheffield with 11 points.

Drew Wheeling scored 13 points to pace Titusville with Manny Perez adding 11.

ROCKY GROVE 75, UNION CITY 44

SUGARCREEK BOROUGH, Pa. – Isaac Clayton led four Rocky Grove players in double figures as the Orioles improved to 6-0 with a 75-44 win over Union City.

Brett Stevenson and Quinn Ritchey scored 13 points each for Rocky Grove and Andrew Whitman added 10.

The Orioles outscored the Bears by 18 in the second quarter en route to the win.

Bryce Drayer had 16 points and Matthew Bennett 14 for Union City.

SAEGERTOWN 56, NORTH EAST 50

                                  

SAEGERTOWN, Pa. – Saegertown raced out to a 17-point lead on its way to a 56-50 win over North East.

Brady Greco had 20 points to lead the Panthers, while Jaden Wilkins had 15 and Henry Shaffer 13.

David Gibson had 14 points for North East.

NORTHWESTERN 67, CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS 49

ALBION, Pa. – Northwestern built a 13-point halftime lead en route to a 67-49 win over Cambridge Springs.

Eric Steinle led three Wildcats in double figures with 22 points, while Ryan Tewell added 13 and Cam Perkins 10. Steinle drained six threes.

Josh Reisenauer had 15 points for the Blue Devils, while Nathan Held added 13 and PArker Schmidt 11.

HICKORY 75, SHARPSVILLE 56

SHARPSVILLE, Pa. – Aiden Enoch scored 26 points, including eight three’s as Hickory earned a 75-56 win over Sharpsville.

Enoch was one of four Hickory players in double figures, as Joey Fazzone netted 14 points and Tyson Djakovich and Jackson Pryts 13 each.

Mack Staunch had a big game for Sharpsville with 25 points.

KENNEDY CATHOLIC 79, LAKEVIEW 48

STONEBORO, Pa. – Otis Driver had a monster game with 38 points as Kennedy Catholic earned a 79-48 win over Lakeview.

Driver made six threes in his effort, while Elijah Harden had 11 points for the Golden Eagles.

Lane Smith had 19 points and Cameron Pence 16 for Lakeview.

MERCER 44, JAMESTOWN 31

MERCER, Pa. – Mercer built an 11-point halftime lead on its way to a 44-31 win over Jamestown.

Jake Mattocks led a balanced effort for the Mustangs with nine points, while Julian Lawrence and Dom Pugh added eight each.

Cam Keyser had nine points for Jamestown.

WEST MIDDLESEX 60, COMMODORE PERRY 18

WEST MIDDLESEX, Pa. – Richie Preston scored 20 points as West Middlesex eased past Commodore Perry, 60-18.

Luke Mild was also in double figures for the Big Reds with 10 points, as they used a 21-4 run in the second quarter to take control.

ERIE 67, WEST SHAMOKIN 24

RURAL VALLEY, Pa. – Jay Smith scored 15 points as Erie earned a 67-24 win over District 6 foe West Shamokin.

The Royals led by 30 at halftime.

Tayjameir Carr netted 10 points and Denzel Driver eight for the Royals.

Kyle Stringert’s six points led Commodore Perry.

MCDOWELL 52, AUSTINTOWN FITCH (OHIO) 51

AUSTINTOWN, OHIO – Luke Chamberlain scored 22 points as McDowell outlasted Austintown Fitch, 52-51.

Isaiah Logvin added 12 points for the Trojans.

FARRELL 52, REYNOLDS 51

GREENVILLE, Pa. – Dontaye Bell scored 20 points as Farrell rallied past Reynolds, 52-51.

The Steelers survived a scoreless second quarter en route to the win.

Kabron Smith added nine points in the win for the Steelers.

Ashton Small had 19 points for Reynolds, while Haden Obenrader added 11.

CATHEDRAL PREP 65, KNIGHT (CALIF.) 56, overtime

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Jake Sambuchino scored 28 points as Cathedral Prep won its final game in the Tarkanian Classic, 65-56 in overtime over Knight.

Sambuchino knocked down eight threes in the win.

Zion Barksdale finished with 16 points and eight rebounds for the Ramblers, who went 2-2 out in Las Vegas.

HARBOR CREEK 57, MERCYHURST PREP 38

HARBORCREEK, Pa. – Jaden Rocco scored 21 points to power Harbor Creek to a 57-38 win over Mercyhurst Prep.

Nick Krahe added 16 points and Travis Kruszewski 10 for the Huskies.

Dewey Byrd had 20 points for Mercyhurst Prep.

GIRARD 48, FORT LEBOEUF 40

GIRARD, Pa. – Austin Shady scored 20 points to help Girard to a 48-40 win over Fort LeBoeuf.

The Yellow Jackets outscored the Bison by 10 in the fourth quarter en route to the win.

Dylan McDonald added 15 points for Girard.

Hunter Villa had 18 points for Fort LeBoeuf.

FAIRVIEW 67, GENERAL MCLANE 44

FAIRVIEW, Pa. – Logan Frazao poured in 30 points as Fairview earned an impressive 67-44 non-region win over General McLane.

James Sitter added 11 points for the unbeaten Tigers.

Danny Bruce had 17 points and Dane Jukes 10 for GM.
