Dec. 13 D10 Boys/Girls Hoops: Cambridge Springs, Youngsville Girls Win Season Openers; McDowell Boys Top Grove City

CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS, Pa. – Maddie Yanc scored 26 points as Cambridge Springs rolled to a 68-6 win over Commodore Perry in its season opener.

Yanc was one of four Cambridge Springs players in double figures, as Hailee Rodgers scored 14 points, Makenize Yanc 11 and Finley Rauscher 10.

YOUNGSVILLE 41, IROQUOIS 27

LAWRENCE PARK, Pa. – Kenzie Olewine poured in 25 points as Youngsville topped Iroquois, 41-27 in its season opener.

Olewine connected on three triples in the win.

                                      

Mia Rafalski chipped in with eight points for the Lady Eagles and Ashlee Peterson six.

Jenna Dash and Alena Keysiak scored nine points each for Iroquois.

CONNEAUT (Pa.) 53, REYNOLDS 43

GREENVILLE, Pa. – Rylee Jones scored a game-high 21 points to help Conneaut (Pa.) to a 53-43 non-region win over Reynolds.

The Eagles built an 11-point lead after the first quarter en route to the win.

                          

Jaelyn Blood was also in double figures for Conneaut with 11 points, while Jocelyn Denihan and Hannah Brady had seven each. Jones also had eight rebounds and seven steals, while Blood had five steals, Brady eight rebounds, Sami Egli four assists and four steals and Denihan five blocks.

Halle Murcko scored 19 points to pace Reynolds, while Mackenzie Herman added 10.

MAPLEWOOD 37, GENERAL MCLANE 29

EDINBORO, Pa. – Trailing by one going into the fourth quarter, Maplewood outscored General McLane 13-4 over the final eight minutes en route to a 37-29 win.

Bailey Varndell led a balanced effort for the Lady Tigers with 10 points, while Liliane Moorhead added six and Eve Beuchat five.

Libby Opp had 11 points for General McLane.

LAKEVIEW 44, GROVE CITY 35

STONEBORO, Pa. – Reese Gadsby scored 22 points as Lakeview beat Grove City, 44-35.

Lakeview by seven at halftime and Gadsby scored seven of her points in the fourth quarter.

Amber Sefton scored nine of her 12 points in the second half for the Sailors.

                                   

Hannah Reiber had 12 points to lead Grove City, while Delaney Callahan had 10 and Piper Como seven.

MERCER 43, HICKORY 41

MERCER, Pa. – Julia Balaski had a monster game with 27 points as Mercer outlasted Hickory, 43-41.

Pressley Wasshil added eight points for the Lady Mustangs.

Emily Duncan scored 14 points for Hickory while Malana Beach added 11.

WILMINGTON 43, MEADVILLE 34

MEADVILLE, Pa. – Freshman Lia Kraup scored 22 points as Wilmington built a 16-point halftime lead on its way to a 43-34 win over Meadville.

Annalee Gardner added six points for the Greyhounds.

Phoebe Templin paced Meadville with 14 points, while Sydney Burchard added nine and Avery Phillips eight.

FARRELL 63, SHARON 25

SHARON, Pa. – Sanaa Brodie connected for 21 points as Farrell powered past Sharon, 63-25.

Jaylie Green added 16 points for the Steelers.

India McGee had 17 of Sharon’s 25 points.

MCDOWELL 49, GIRARD 20

GIRARD, Pa. – McDowell got a balanced scoring effort in a 49-20 win over Girard.

                                  

Caylen Spano and Jessica Hetz scored 10 points each, while Amaiya Nelson added eight.

Kayla Sharman had six points for Girard.

BOYS

MCDOWELL 72, GROVE CITY 50

ERIE, Pa. – McDowell broke open a single-digit game going into the fourth quarter against Grove City, outscoring the Eagles 24-11 over the final eight minutes on their way to a 71-50 victory.

Luke Chamberlain led four Trojans in double figures with 19 points. Tyler Grove chipped in with 13 points, while Isaiah Logvin added 12 and Nick Grimm 10.

Landon Haggart had a game-high 22 points for Grove City, including five threes, while Joey Hathaway added 13 points.

NORTH CATHOLIC 68, HICKORY 44

HERMITAGE, Pa. – North Catholic built a 20-point halftime lead on its way to a 68-44 win over Hickory.

Elijah Murray led North Catholic with 17 points.

Jackson Pryts led Hickory with 14 points, while Joey Fazzone added nine.
