D9 2A Baseball Semifinals: Minich, Redbank Valley Rally Past Karns City; Johnsonburg Advances Powered by North Washington Rodeo

PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. – Trailing 2-0, No 6 Redbank Valley scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning and held off No. 3 Karns City for a 3-2 victory in the D9 Class 2A semifinals.

Breckin Minich had the go-ahead hit, a two-out RBI single that brought in Tate Minich.

Peyton Rearick got the top of the seventh going with a walk, and Owen Clouse ripped an RBI triple to make ita one-run game. Ty Hetrick followed and tied the game at 2 with a sacrifice fly. Tate Minich followed with a single and Bryson Bain flew out for the second out, setting up Breckin Minich’s heroics.

Tate Minich came on to get the save, retiring the side in order in the bottom of the seventh with a pair of strikeouts.

Ty Carrier got the win, going six innings and allowing two runs on six hits, striking out three and walking one. He threw 47 of his 72 pitches for strikes.

   

                  

Clouse finished 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run for Redbank, while Mason Clouse had a pair of hits.

Cole Sherwin was the tough-luck loser, going 6 ⅓ innings and allowing three runs on nine hits, striking out two and walking three.

Karns City scored both of its runs in the fourth inning. Braden Grossman grounded into a double play with the bases loaded to bring in one run, and Braedon Rodgers followed with an RBI single.

With the win, Redbank advances to play defending D9 champ and top-seed Johnsonburg on Monday.

DUBOIS, Pa. – Aiden Zimmerman went 4-for-5 to lead a 13-hit attack as Johnsonburg powered its way back into the District 9 Class 2A championship game with an 11-4 win over Brookville.

The defending District 9 champion Rams scored four runs in both the first and third innings to take an 8-0 advantage.

In the first, Ethan Wells sacrificed and reached on an error, scoring Dom Allegretto to get the Rams on the board. That was followed by a two-run single from Luke Zimmerman and a Jefferson Freeburg bases-loaded walk against Brookville starter Jameson Rhoades.

In the third, Allegretto had an RBI single, Aiden Zimmerman another RBI single, and Camron Marciniak a two-run double.

               

Marciniak, Kaden Dennis, and Luke Zimmerman had two RBIs each, while Allegretto scored three runs.

Collin Porter went six innings to get the win. He allowed four runs (two earned) on five hits, striking out two and walking two. Aiden Zimmerman tossed a scoreless inning of relief.

Rhoades suffered the loss, allowing four runs (two earned) in 1 ⅔ innings on four hits, walking five.

Bryce Rafferty belted a two-run home run in the fourth inning to get Brookville on the board, while Hunter Roney had an RBI single in the seventh.
