Corry Volleyball Earns USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award; Beavers One of 12 PA Girls HS Teams to be Honored

LEXINGTON, Kent. – The Corry Volleyball team was one of 425 girls’ high school volleyball teams from across the country to earn the United States Marine Corps/American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award.

The Beavers, the lone District 9 or District 10 and one of 12 teams from Pennsylvania to receive the honor, needed to maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale or 4.1 on a 5.0 scale to be eligible for the award.

“Academic achievement does not happen by accident,” said AVCA Executive Director Kathy DeBoer. “I’m so proud of the hundreds of coaching staffs that make excellence in the classroom a priority.”

“The Corry coaching staff is proud of the entire team for excelling on the court and most importantly, in the classroom,” a post on the team’s Facebook page said.

Over 1,200 teams from the college and high school levels were honored with the award. To see the full list click here.
