Conneaut (Pa.) Baseball Team Forfeits Remainder of 2022 Season

LINESVILLE, Pa. – Conneaut’s 2022 baseball season is officially over.

The Conneaut School Board met in executive session Sunday night and suspended 14 players and the coaching staff on the heels of a trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C.

“The Board, in an executive session Sunday, night terminated the baseball program for the remainder of the year at Conneaut Area Senior High,” said Conneaut High School Athletic Director John Acklin. “The baseball coaching staff were suspended last Friday and will be up for termination at the next Board meeting.”

Acklin made clear that there were two different issues that led to the termination.

“Fourteen of the 19 students broke Conneaut School District (CSD) policy while at Myrtle Beach over Easter break, while the coaching staff was negligent to carry out their responsibilities.

Acklin said that hopefully, the program will be able to move forward without any issues in 2022-23.

“All scheduled baseball games involving CASH will become forfeited games for the remainder of the school year,” Acklin said. “We’re looking to the future. A new staff will be put in place for next school year and hopefully, the program can move forward.”

The Eagles were 4-6 overall before Sunday’s decision was made.
